  1. Past hour
  2. Say Texas lands him, how much playing time does he get and how big is his role in a stacked room.
  3. From indeed: "The Director of College Scouting will lead the development and execution of advanced scouting strategies, overseeing the evaluation and identification of top talent within Texas Football and other relevant programs." His job is gonna be evaluation, he's not gonna offer guys or take them on visits and stuff.
  4. Replacement, the previous Director of Scouting is now the General Manger at North Texas.
  5. Aggie will say anything to negative recruit Texas ๐Ÿ˜… cause they will always be little bro ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  6. TSU won a national championship in 2013 and their conference in 2024, ostensibly driven by the personnel that Mashack had a hand in scouting. So thatโ€™s something.
  7. If a scouting person can cost you a recruit, that is on the program for letting that happen. Scouts scout, coaches recruit. Plus, wasn't Ant Hill committed to Aggys?
  8. I wonder if a hire like this is a 3rd base coach or a hitting instructor in baseball. Not every guy is going to be a โ€œGM levelโ€ addition. These guys donโ€™t have to move a needle, they just need to be the cogs in the Texas machine theyโ€™re supposed to be to keep the entire operation moving forward.
  9. The effects he will have on the program won't be visible to most people so i'm not too concerned about it to have a knee jerk reaction. One thing that Aggys did well under Jimbo is find good talent...they didn't do much with it, but they could find it so hopefully he is able to do the same here. I do love the fact that Sark continues to bring in people that can help us strengthen and expand our reach into SEC country. Him having so much experience in TN, i think we'll see his impact if we start seeing more TN players being targeted and offered.
  10. Thatโ€™s fair. All Iโ€™m saying is that people shouldnโ€™t have any knee-jerk reactions about this guy. Heโ€™s a complete unknown to most of us. But if thereโ€™s one thing Sark has done extremely well at Texas, itโ€™s bringing in extremely high-level staff, including guys who are not well known outside of the industry but are highly regarded by Sarkโ€™s network. Iโ€™m giving him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise.
  11. Looks like there are still two openings that will be filled - Recruiting Coordinator and Special Assistant to Head Coach. https://www.indeed.com/q-university-of-texas-football-l-austin,-tx-jobs.html?vjk=4f306db17740ca4a
  12. anytime someone is linked to Jimbo Fischer and Aggys, i get nervous.
  13. Kenny Baker wasnโ€™t moving anyoneโ€™s needle either. Sark has a huge network. He isnโ€™t just going to hire anybody to run his scouting team. This dude has NFL experience and a lot of lower-classification experience. To me this signals that Sark finally wants to get serious about finding diamonds out of the G5 and DII and Juco. Iโ€™m all about it.
  14. There are plenty of reasons why A&M didnโ€™t have Anthony Hill Jr.
  15. A&M folks are saying he stunk and he's the reason why we have Ant Hill.
  16. This isnโ€™t really moving my needle.
  17. Iโ€™ve always said Tennessee State has the best scouting department in the country.
  18. I don't know much about him to be completely honest.
  19. Today
  20. Texas has found a new Director of Scouting per a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Steve Sarkisian has named Kevin Mashack as the next Director of Scouting for the Texas Longhorns. Mashack, a Miami, Florida native, returned to Tennessee State University in the summer of 2023 for his third stint with the Tigers, where he served as Director of Football Recruiting. Mashack spent more than 13 years at TSU across three tenures (2007โ€“2013, 2015โ€“2021, and 2023), holding roles that ranged from student assistant and video coordinator to position coach and recruiting leader. Between his TSU stints, Mashack worked three seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013โ€“2015) as a scouting assistant in player personnel. He later moved into college personnel leadership roles, serving as Director of Player Personnel and High School Relations at Indiana in 2021 and Director of Player Personnel at Texas A&M in 2022 under Jimbo Fisher. Now, he joins the Longhorns on Steve Sarkisian's staff.
  21. The question about their 3-point shooting slump really struck a nerve with Vic because deep down inside, he knows they're right and that's what it's gonna take to beat South Carolina, LSU, UConn, etc. in the tourney and win it all imo. With Aaliyah Crump back healthy, their outside shooting is the only question mark I have about this team. They are national championship level at everything else. The outside shooting won't hurt them in the regular season but could cap their ceiling to Final Four if it doesn't get addressed. Right now, it seems like UConn is destined for an undefeated national championship season. They are the best 3-point shooting team in WCBB and it's gonna take a herculean effort to knock them out of the tourney. Their conference schedule is a cake walk. Texas at full strength has the best chance to do that imo.
