  2. Bear with me on my Mack story. Summer before my senior year (2004), I went to the one day camp in June. Of course, I hadn't been working out since school ended and paid for it lol. We did 40 yard sprints in DKR in the mid morning heat and I was wanting to throw up something fierce lol. As I'm bent over fighting the urge, I feel someone put their hand on my back and ask if I'm okay. I hear the voice and freeze up. It's Mack. Suddenly I'm blabbering out apologies for almost throwing up, not being brtter prepared, whatever. He interrupts me and takes me to the trainers to get hydrated. To say I'm embarassed is a huge understatement. We break for lunch and go to the bubble for position drills w the coaches (loved being coached by Bruce Chambers for a day) followed by routes on air and 1 on 1s w the qbs, running backs, and receivers vs the linebackers and secondary. At the end of the camp, us and our parents get to talk to fhe coaches and of course Mack sees me and asks me if I'm feeling better after earlier, and yeah, he does make you feel like you're fhe most important person at that time. I got to introduce him to my dad, who was probably as star struck as I was earlier that day lol. But it was a great day, one that I treasure as a lifelong Longhorn fan.
  3. I agree with a lot of what was said above. A couple of other things that helped me. You will go through the 5 stages grief - just be prepared for those feelings (therapy or a book can be of benefit). I chose therapy after a close friend’s suggestion; she gave me some great tools. One of the best was when I couldn’t stop thinking about it, she told me to just get up and do anything (drink of water, snack, restroom, walk outside - anything) - to break my train of thought - it worked wonders. Journaling can also help you work through your thoughts and emotions - I don’t like journaling, but it did help during that time. It sounds crazy, but writing things down can manifest them (there is science behind it). I was devastated & blindsided also, but it turned out to be blessing!
  4. I’m sorry this is happening. I’ll share a mistake my sister made when she got divorced 11 years ago. Their son was 10 at the time. During the divorce process her soon to be ex made what seemed to her sincere promises about sharing the financial aspect as their son grew into teenage years. She took him at his word & didn’t address things in writing in the divorce decree. When the kid reached high school the ex reneged on all those financial promises. It was a mess. She admitted later she wished she had been insistent on putting everything into the decree. So, be careful, get a really good attorney. Hoping for brighter days to come your way.
  5. A prayer that you will find peace quickly with this. Even with a congenial divorce, I can still find regrets and frustration with leaving behind so many years. As mentioned above, get a lawyer ASAP. Make him/her your confidant. They’ve been through most scenarios and can give you a good idea of what to expect and what to watch out for. You just mentioned that you expressed your expectations. Realize that anything you talk about can reset the “negotiations”. I was able to deal with my ex because we agreed that it was 50/50 for us. I would guess from the unexpected departure, your wife won’t be as forthcoming as amenable. Boy! The kids thing! Always remember that they are keeping track of their parents and what they do and say. In my case, my son told his mom ‘adios’ as she “abandoned” him in pursuit of her next husband. I doubt he ever trusts her again. Learn to like ad be yourself again. Happiness is within you. Something to share with someone in life- not find in someone. Your love is a gift as is the love someone will give you. You will find another, just be open to trusting again. I was one of the lucky ones to find another that has been a blessing for my son and me. Best of luck to you, Brother!
  6. So you’re saying that all other teams have an Arch, a Collin Simmons, a McDonald, a Goosby? Seriously, find me 5 other teams with a core anywhere near that. The draft will tell, but there are few teams every year that produce 3 1st round picks. Then you got Wingo, January, Terry, Baker, TyAnthony Smith. Landon Jackson, Umeozulu at DE. Robertson. There’s no guarantee that a homegrown guy doesn’t take the other guard spot. Williams was solid recruit. Littleton, Black, Phillips, Roberson, Niblett as PR. I know exactly who we picked up and who we lost. Five of the top 10 teams from last year lose their QB. Miami and Tech lose much of their DLine and/or OLine. Similar for Indiana. Ohio State loses a bunch on defense. A&Ms Oline is gone. We were very competitive last year. With the most difficult schedule. With injuries. And we lost fewer high end guys than the other likely contenders. But sure, the team that’s been a top 3-5 team over the past 3 seasons would not have been a competitor.
  7. I wanna say thanks to everybody and the words of encouragement. Even if I didn’t personally respond I read each message with the most appreciation for this community. We had a conversation today where I’ve made my wishes clear and it seemed to go as well as I could hope for in the moment, now just to wait for the process to play out. I’ve had a better day today than I did yesterday and that’s step 1. Thanks guys and hookem
  8. I think our brains work the same way- it is so frustrating. And as I get older, it seems to get worse!!
  9. As hard as it may seem, keep it as civil as possible. You may not be a couple, but you be parents forever. Biggest scars I’ve witnessed have been on the children from a nasty and contentious divorce.
  10. Today
  11. How about starting a beach volleyball program and have it top 5 in the country in 3 years?
  12. Need Voke to rest up and get his legs back, can’t have him get in foul trouble because he’s got heavy legs.
  13. We picked up 2 OL starters, both RB starters, several DT and the best WR. Without all that we are no way close to a NC contender.
  14. CDC doesn't bat 1.000 but he's closer than anyone else in his field IMO.
  15. Left out Bowman with men’s swimming and producing an SEC championship and National Championship in year 1. Let’s see what happens this weekend! Hook’em!
  16. Not near enough of this discussion.
  17. We would have been national champ contenders without portal additions. There’s only one position group that looks to be substantially better than it would otherwise be without the impact of the portal. And that’s conceivable that the two best players are homegrown. Biles is a top addition, but it’s not as though Lefau was insignificant. Now, if you say took us to the top of the list, maybe.
  18. I just can’t figure out which one is Michigan state 🤣
  19. Maybe we should just go with the hate since that is working? Thanks for the updates JH!
  20. This is random, but your name sounded familiar to me so I googled it and instantly regretted the decision 😂 in case you’re wondering, Paul Jesperson (almost identical name) hit a half court buzzer beater to knock Texas out the tournament 10 years ago
  21. BTW - I’m skeptical of the Duke total. I think it is likely higher.
  22. Great graphic. Thanks for posting. We need to get to the spending levels of other SEC football schools like Bama and Tenn.
  23. they are a bigger basketball school than texas
