Good. I see no reason to force him to choose. It's his life. If he doesn't want to specialize, then UT shouldn't make him. He needs to understand that might limit his ability to contribute at a max level to each team or limit his development in the sports, but so be it.

Had the same experience with him. I went to his introductory celebration in Austin, and they were running late getting him to the Palmer Event Center. I decided to step outside to satisfy my tobacco habit, and in walked David McWilliams (who I knew) and Coach Brown. He asked my name, and whether I could punt. Fast forward 10 or so years and I ran into him again. He remembered my name and that conversation about punting and he asked if I still had eligibility. I haven't met anyone before or since that had that unique ability to remember faces/names and the grace to joke about things that make someone like me smile a little wider.
