Lol you FOR SURE don’t watch much Texas football. Arch Manning played 5 snaps vs UGA with 1:24 to go in the first half. He was pressured to move the ball down the field against an elite defense and the first thing he did was run for 21 yds and take us across the 50 for the first time in the game. Yeah, he took 2 sacks and fumbled a few plays later. It’s a different story actually starting the game with a script vs coming in down 17 pts with 1:24 left in the first half, wouldn’t you say? I guarantee you Arch has been in scarier situations than he will be in in Columbus. Sayin hasn’t.

My point is that they are practicing against a completely reworked DL. It reminds me of some recent year (Maybe first year Sark) when we all thought our DL was the strength of the team and going to be awesome only to learn during the season that they, in fact, were a bad DL that had been whooping up on an even worse OL in practices. Turned out the practice reports were deceiving.

Aren’t they replacing 3/5 oline starters?

OTF Premium Reshuffling on the OL (Monday 1:50 p.m.)

Searching for a contingency plan in the event of be a real Goosby injury? That’s due diligence. That’s smart. They believe Goosby is a known quantity. No reason not to take this time to address what I think we all can agree (including Sark) is the one area of concern on the team. Backup OL - tackle in particular. I’d be concerned if they weren’t actively working on that issue. -
They have 3 returning interior starters and two OTs that supposedly look pretty decent (really 3) according to their practice reports. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Ohio States OL will be “good”. Which is all I described them as.
-
How do we know this? They are being measured right now against a completely new DL that isn’t as talented or as deep as the Texas DL.
-
We all have our opinions. That one is probably shared by most Ohio St fans. Bias is real and unavoidable really. It’s only my opinions that are pristine and unbiased 😉

Where did he say that Flood was wrong? CTJ's point is that there might be more to the story as far as *why* Flood is doing it, not that Flood is an idiot. Though I think Bobby's explanation (Robertson is OL #6 and we need to prepare for what that means) does make sense. -

I trust Flood more than you on matters of offensive line. -

Surly changing the world! -
Whoever thought he couldn't play tackle at the next level should do something else for work.

This is true and his talent is evident, even Sark was recruiting him hard before Manning committed and both parties kinda just drifted apart. But this is in practice, no? When he was teams coming after him and in his face, can he still make those throws? Can he do this while progressing his reads, etc? The same is true for Manning. We've seen him under duress and come out to make plays and also struggle. Have you seen that from Sayin yet? Has he experienced that the college level? I do agree that it can't come soon enough, either way it'll be a fun game and I will say, I do appreciate you being cordial with us and not coming here to troll.

We're not saying he's not good. We pointed out what he does well. Up and down this thread you'll see where we said he's an extremely talented passer of the football, highly accurate, processes and releases quickly. Pointing out athleticism, escaping ability, or arm strength isn't bashing him. It does and will show up. I truly believe we didn't score more touchdowns in the redzone because of Quinn's arm strength. Sayin is going to do just fine.

To be honest, take that same gameplan against Smith and employ it again. Ohio State doesn't have the same caliber of RB's it had last year, their other WR's are good but not the caliber of Smith. Klare is a threat at TE but I think if you do what you did against Smith again and combine that with your pass rush to rattle Sayin, that is a recipe for success. Smith is his safety blanket. Sayin isn't as mobile as Howard and can't extend the play like he did and doesn't have the experience Howard had. Now their OL I'm not sure if it's as good or better, but they're replacing 4 starters like us. So, like our guys, will take some time to gel. No reason to over think it, imo. While they have other great WR's, none come close to Smith. Taking him out of the game (again) should be the main focus.

I remember Sark was recruiting him really hard, and Sayin was liking what he heard, given Sark's rep for QB development. Then Arch committed to Texas (with just a one year gap to Sayin) and both sides kind of moved away from the recruitment. Had Arch not stuck with Texas it sure looked like Sayin was Sark's top pick in the next class - all this talk about his shortcomings is funny, we would have taken him in a heartbeat under different circumstances.

Yep. People on here seem to be sleeping on the Ohio St OL. They will be good this year.
