Here's another more specific question. The top 20 p4 offenses in points per drive score at least 3 points. Texas is under 2.4 pts/drive, which is #42 and not in the the top 10 of any of the 4 power conferences. How do we find an extra .5 pts/drive, or an extra 2 drives per game, to have championship caliber offense if you agree that this metric matters? Source: OFEI

There have been several comments here just like yours today. I'm as pissed as anyone right now but I'm gonna see how the season plays out. Playoffs or bust for me.
-
You obviously don’t know a comment is not serious.

Well we better hope history is actually not an indicator for the future. Scary that we’re getting to the point that Sark blatantly lies in pressers now. Scared Sark has peaked at Texas and this is going to be a grueling downhill slope. Confident this team will win games, but not the big one. Afraid Sark never will. We say “he won’t win a championship until he hires an OC” well, he’s never going to.
-
Dumb. You deserve Charlie Strong as your coach.
-
I think Sark has bought into the mantra of playing your best football at the end of the season. That doesn’t bode well for trying to put on your best most button up performances at the beginning of the season. Hopefully it’s a long season. I’m disappointed that we let OU and Brent Venebles breathe. No I’m hoping that Kentucky as 6.5 points dogs on the road can pull off the upset.
-
I'll give you both a lot of credit. I am to the point where the drag of a monotonous offense and lackluster special teams has taken a toll on the belief I had with this team to begin the season. Again, if it ever clicks, the talent will compete with anyone. But that's the question – will it ever click?
-
Appreciate it. I’m hand in there 10 toes down. It feels like it’s just me and @Bobby Burton that still believe at this point.
-
The defense will win a lot of games. It's as good as any in the country. If the offense and special teams are even just consistently average, this team still has a lot of potential. Let's see how this weekend goes.
-
@CJ Vogel Is it time to boycott the season? Stop watching games. Plead with fans to stop buying tickets, so that CDC can make a change?

exactly. Boring is Sexy on Special teams

The Film Guy Break shows we are in trouble with Arch
SETXAN replied to Levester White's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Man…I find myself feeling just as aghast as Brooks. Would love to be a fly on the wall during the offensive coach film watch. Arch either plays like a God or like he’s auditioning for the Little Giants. And it’s usually within the same drive. At least in the show..the good guys win. The same horrible mechanics seen against OSU last year to start the season rear their ugly head too too often. I think when Sark references the positives at practice not translating to the game is code for “Arch is fuggin’ it all up.” -
Absolutely not.

Sark is loyal to a fault. A psychologist would say it has a lot to do with those who stood by him at his lowest point. While I admire the quality, why not just bring in some young badass special teams coach and keep Banks as your tight end coach exclusively?
-
Or even better: instill some discipline. Special teams is boring. It is not fun. But it is where you truly separate yourself with discipline and which team truly cares about the small details of the game of football. Look at the Alabama dynasty. Look at the Georgia run under Kirby. Look at the Patriots dynasty. Those coaches cared deeply about the world of special teams. Texas has had moments – field goal blocks, punt returns, etc. But the list is far too long. That's a lack of discipline. You either coach it, or you allow it.

Think Coach Erwin and Coach Ship said it best: Simplify it
-
Isn’t it funny that all of Sark’s buddies (and sark himself) are the same areas where our team stinks?

Would have appreciated Sark deflecting in a more respectful manner earlier today. Great stuff CJ.

Sarkisian said he would not reassess his special teams coordinator following the loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. When asked if he would elaborate on that a bit further, this was the answer: "I think history is the best indicator of the future, and and we've been good on special teams for quite some time around here. You know, I have a lot of faith in Coach Banks and his schemes. And I have a lot of faith in our players to get that done. Sometimes you go through lulls like you do on offense or like you do on defense, and I don't question our ability to coach our way out of that – compete our way out of that to get back to the standard of which we play special teams."
-
Well.. history is the best indicator. Or something like that
-
Yeah but Sark said there was a track record. So we believe that and ignore all evidence to the contrary.
