When did college basketball hit its peak for you?
Jeff Howe replied to Jeff Howe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
A what-if moment that doesn’t get talked about enough: How much deeper does Texas go in the 2002 NCAA Tournament with a healthy Chris Owens? -

Rick Barnes' run from 2001-02 to 2007-08 for me. Fun era of basketball to watch. So many great wins and heartbreaking losses, but was fun watching all that talent on the hardwood during that time. -
Big12 glass court = classic Yormark snake oil
Alex Butler replied to CHorn427's topic in On Texas Football Forum
If the little 12 wants a new commissioner with a ton of experience and focus on safety and no prior experience I’m Yormark’s replacement. I’m sure the idea was “it’ll look cool and we’ll be able to sell ads ON the court during game time!! Plus, we can put graphics and other trash to distract fans from actually watching and enjoying the game. Oh yeah it may be a huge issue for the players, but they’ll adjust.” -

Duke has had too many great players to mention. Grant Hill, for a lot of different reasons, is the GOAT. -

non-Texas, I grew up in the northeast so the big east tournament in the early 2000s was always peek hoops for me. My family didn’t grow up with a lot of $$ but my dad would always take me and my two brothers to a full day/night session and it was always the best. Was never a big NBA guy so really how I started to fall in love with college hoops. Texas wise - the elite 8 team after KD with Augustin, Abram’s, Damion James. What a fun team, Memphis was just too good -

The strength of that conference is in it's basketball programs and the last thing the tournament needed was a gimmack. What an idiotic move by Yormark. I guess a leopard cant change its spots. -

No doubt, still just hate that it went down that way -
For me going into this season ... 1. Kirby 2 Day (I joke about Day being born on 3rd base like anyone else, but has been to five CFP's, 7 straight top 10 finishes and has kept Ohio State amongst the top 2-3 college programs since being hired - which is all very impressive). Would go Day, for now. 3. Cignetti 4. Kalen DeBoer - taken two teams to CFP, and played for an NC 5. Marcus Freeman -played for an NC, and took over top historical brand in CFB at age 37. Many have failed in similar scenarios before him at various blue bloods. 6-8 ... Flip coins on Sark, Lanning and Cristobal ... depends on your criteria Sark and Lanning the convo ... Lanning bad playoff losses, also went out and won the Big 10 first year in the league (meaningful) Cristobal is the one of the three that has played for all the marbles. BTW, Dabo has really taken a tumble on these lists due to portal approach IMO. It's cost him. But what he's done at Clemson is still CFB Hall of Fame stuff.

Graduated HS in 87 and UT class of 92. Loved the Tom Penders Runnin Horns with BMW and completely enjoyed many of the teams from 2003 to 2011 under Rick Barnes but the greatest period for College Basketball imo was the 80s into the 90s. Indiana and Bob Knight, NC and Dean Smith, Georgetown and John Thompson, Duke and Coack K, Syracuse and Jim Boeheim, Kansas and Larry Brown then Roy Williams, Michigan and the Fab 5 plus all the other incredible teams in the Big 10 from Illinois, Iowa, Purdue and Gene Keady!!! great times!! - Today

University of Houston, North Carolina and Georgetown, back in the mid 80s. Great college basketball. More excitement. Then got good at Texas with Penders and BMW attack. That was ultra fun basketball, Texas and Arkansas. -

Mine hasn't happened yet ... lol CBK has always been tremendous. March Madness is the best thing going in college athletics, and I don't think it's particularly close.
