I have been a member for about 18 months and have appreciated the honest insight into all things Longhorns. This is without a doubt the best place to get news or thoughts on the Longhorns. One of my favorite moments was 2024 season before the TX-OU game and I was able to tell all my Sooner friends that Burks was out before they knew because y'all broke the news. With the influx of new members I have found myself a bit detached from OTF because I don’t care for all the drama. Thanks for all you do.

I’m a bit late to the party but that was an epic fight. Hopefully Paddy rebounds with his next fight. I love his cocky punk attitude.

What UT sports should be like by 2035...

I second the Women’s gymnastics idea. I didn’t notice the end zone issue. I do think there is way too much smoke from cannon shots. It lingers too long and obscures vision for a lot of people.- 1 reply

Sad deal. That winter storm was no joke. Prayers for the families.

I know CDC is giving his state of the union soon, but I have a few suggestions. I really think we need a women's gymnastics team. It's time. He could time implementation with the new Volleyball facility and the meets can be held there too. Secondly, we need to remodel the McComb's softball stadium. Just a complete do-over. It has those quirky spires and it just doesn't look nice. With our success, we need to be better in that area. Finally, what can be done about the new end zone with preferred seating? It's looks awful during gamedays. Surely, he can figure it out. Those are my two cents. Thoughts?

That is a rational view, yet I have slightly more hope. First, Mark has become a consistent high level defender, when he was not early in the season. Second, Matas shows signs of playing smarter now, and more improvement for him is probably an expectation. On the other hand...Wilcher is regressing on offense and defense. The Wilcher disappointment puts Pope or Mark in the lead guard position too often, when both are better offensive threats off the ball. My thoughts on the downside for the season center around lack of depth. Codie is effectively already gone, apparently checked out. Heide is starting by necessity when he was slated to have been a role playing sub. Weaver is starter quality, of course. Traore is limited, but does give decent minutes on D and as a rebounder. Seven guys. Could be eight if Wilcher were as advertised, but now only seven. Duru has not shown anything yet, so I don't count him.

If you keep telling these young men how bad they’re going to be they are going to be bad . If you tell them they have an opportunity to be great then they have a chance to be great. But they have no chance if you keep up with all the criticism.
-
What does that mean?

That always seemed like a pipe dream to me. We shall see in a few months. Seems like a gamble.

We all talk about the ills of CFB and one is players changing teams at the drop of the hat. This young man just won the greatest team prize in the game, the National Championship and he was a starter. This is something he will share with his teammates for as long as he lives. There will be days recognized by his university in the future. He is a Hoosier forever. Going back to your high school hometown to play at UT just doesn’t cut it. As much as I love Austin, I get it.

Tolerance for college football woes is waning
HookemTexas replied to Junior's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I feel the same pains, granted I'm older than the target audience though I'm not retired yet. I stopped watching NFL when they were more worried about not playing football, I stopped the NBA when officiating decided the "stars" could literally break rules and not be penalized (double dribble, travel, palming, etc.) in addition to flopping worse than soccer players. MLB for some reason isn't as entertaining to me anymore. When I was a kid, I could name every single player on any of the major Houston teams (Oilers, Rockets, Astros). I listened on the radio when the TV was blacked out (Bill Worrell & Milo Hamilton). I still love Longhorn sports, but like many have said, the transfer and NIL have made it hard to have favorite players because they might be gone the next year. In the NIL fanbox, I got the autographed Wisner poster and Deandre Moore poster; I had ordered frames which and framed them, but those aren't going up on the wall now because it's a Longhorn wall. Change is inevitable, just what will make it on the wall will be more scarce now since there will be fewer players that stay at the school. For that reason, I believe if Arch is able to lead the team to a natty this year (even with all the transfers in), he'll be as beloved as Vince if not more by the burnt orange faithful. Thanks for reading my rambling on a Monday morning. -
I remember when his name got thrown around, that I was saying the reports seem to suggest he would stick with Indiana. I'm sure teams tried to woo him but Indiana has done really well in the portal and retained their coaches. I expect they'll be in the mix again in 2026. With our OL, we're just going to have trust in what we got. It's that simple at this point. Yes they missed one some IOL guys and couldn't woo other guys into the portal but it is what it is at this point.

Small excerpt from a much longer post: Offensive Line There is no avoiding this conversation. Sarkisian said it himself: “I think the offensive line is something that we’re going to address in the portal.” Everyone understood the offensive line was Texas’ weakest unit in 2025 and the position most in need of immediate upgrades. Texas needed to attack this spot with the same urgency it previously showed when pursuing defensive linemen. Interior players who represented clear, instant upgrades were the goal. So far, the inability to significantly upgrade the offensive line through the portal has been a major disappointment. Texas missed on every elite target it pursued. Bodies were added, but none who check the boxes the way Coleman, Brown, or Smoothers do. The only remaining hope is a last-second Hail Mary involving an offensive lineman from Indiana or Miami. Out of respect for the players Texas did sign, an F feels harsh. That said, it is hard to argue with anyone who lands there. Transfer portal grade: D

That was a damn good card to kick the year off with even with a few cancels. I can deal with the adds because of how much money paramount is gonna save me 🤣. And Gathje is that dude lol, but nobody current is beating Topuria
