As a sinker ball pitcher, Grubbs must keep the ball down. He elevated the ball that Galloway crushed over the left-field wall.

And just like that, Texas trails early. Rashawn Galloway just took Grubbs deep to left field. Texas State has the early lead, 1-0.

Not to toot my horn, but I was right about moving Borba to third and Becerra to short.

Also, I mentioned one of the A-Rod threads that if Borba moved to third base with Becerra moving to short, it's because he's the next best defensive option.

I love Ty Harrington on color commentary for the broadcast. A lifetime Longhorn who built a good mid-major program at Texas State.

Normally, Grubbs getting the start would signal that something possibly significant has happened. Since he didn't pitch in the OU series, however, I'm not surprised Schloss and Max Weiner are using him as the opener for this game. I'd expect to see a lot of different arms tonight.

The Longhorns and Bobcats meet for the second time this season, this time at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network Plus.

While I don’t think it’s fair, Vic Schaefer and Texas won’t earn the respect of the national media unless they finish the job. UConn and South Carolina get the benefit of the doubt because their programs and head coaches have won multiple championships in the last decade. Vic has been here multiple times and has not gotten over the hump, although I would argue he got unlucky in 2018 as his team lost on a buzzer beater to Notre Dame. Gotta win the next two games to earn their respect.

Funny, I read an ESPN article today that re-ranked the women's teams coming in to the FF and Texas is now ranked # 2 behind only UConn - "The time has come to elevate Texas. All the No. 1 seeds have been impressive, but the Longhorns have been thoroughly dominant."

Recruiting rankings don't really move me with how much emphasis is now coming from the portal.

Things have changed. Don’t get me wrong, there are players we need in every class to build depth and in some cases fight for game time but it seems near sighted to sign a top class only to have many of them sit two years while they hold you hostage every off-season for more money.

Meh.

I don't know what to make of it. Texas is the only WCBB team I watch. We go through stretches during which we turn it over like crazy and can't shoot. Pretty sure UConn doesn't have those lapses. Don't know about UCLA. If you win, you can get the respect.
