  2. Lots of back and forth about the 3 stars in this class, particularly as the end to the class. We know that the coaches have had some pretty big hits on 3 stars in the last few years. For example: 2024 (11 3-stars, includes punter) - Ty-Anthony Smith, Parker Livingstone, Alex January 2023 (9 3-stars) - Tre Wisner, Trevor Goosby 2021 (11 3-stars includes kicker and long snapper) - Cole Hutson, Ethan Burke, Cam Williams, Connor Robertson According to the 247 composite, we have 10 currently (includes K, P, and LS). In comparison: #1 USC (13), #2 Georgia (8), #3 Bama (9), #4 ND (4), #5 Oregon (3). .. also #9 Aggy (only 3 with a kicker included out of a class of 26), #15 OU (11), and #19 Tech (13). So we will likely finish with more than more than almost all of the top #10 recruiting classes except save USC which has a whopping 34 commits (including 1 5 star and 20 4 stars). So in the spirit of not being homerish and saying well our 3 stars are the best, or OH NO we are finishing the class with a whimper with only 3 stars, I wanted to take a look at 2 things.. how are the classes that are more relevant to Texas... finishing their classes (senior evals, flips), and who is offering these 3 stars. I'll focus on the #1 class in the country USC, and 34 of our biggest rivals - Georgia, Aggy, OU, and Tech (at least in recruiting these days) First, how the classes are ending since game #1 of the season: 1. USC has added 2 3-stars (#3 JUCO TE, #66 CB) since the beginning of the season 2. Georgia has added: 4 star EDGE (#2), 3 star OL (#1 JUCO player overall by 247, #3 composite) 9. Aggy has added: 4 star WR (#235 national, #32 WR) 15. OU has added: 4 star WR (#93 national, #13 WR), 4 star RB (Hatton, who then lost and then regained, #100 national, #5 RB), 4 star WR (#52 WR), 4star WR (#60 WR), 4 star S (#29 LB), 3-star WR, 3-star safeties. Makes more sense for OU to have so many additions, given how bleak their recruiting was prior to the season and their pretty good year so far. 19. Tech has added nobody So very interesting that most of our competition has not added much of anything since the season started.. we've added 4 recently to try to top off the class, and a few more are likely. Obviously the other teams may add a few here and there as well. Next, how are the 3 stars (note there is a little discrepancy between the 247 team ranking stars and what is listed on the recruiting profiles directly): 1. USC -Josiah Jefferson the #1 JUCO TE in the country, flipped from Utah, Jayden Crowder CB flipped from Cal 2. Georgia - Jarmaine Mitchell, nation's #1 JUCO OT, flipped from Miss St. 15. OU - Xavier Okwufulueze WR, first instate commit of the OU class over okie lite and arky, Markel Ford 3 star flip from SMU Obviously we know our situation with Cummings (Cal), Walker (Minn), Scherer (Stanford), and Jilek (Minn) Ultimately, the late flips are dependent on how full the classes are (USC 32 to 34 commits, Georgia 29 to 31 commits, Texas 20 to 24 commits, Aggy 25 to 26 commits, OU 17 to 24 commits, and Tech 20 commits with intent to throw money at the portal. Where every team's philosophy with NIL/Rev share also plays into this. Tech is playing the big dollars at the portal game every year, which is risky (see Florida State). Who will bend the rules to play players (USC, Aggy?) I'm ultimately not moved one way or another by Texas' late strategy of filling the class with a whole bunch of 3 stars to finish. You may get a few to hit as we have in the last several years, and we are saving gunpowder for the portal. However, it will be a dogfight to get who we want in the portal, and if you don't get who you want in the portal.. guess what, 4 of the aforementinoed teams are already streaking ahead in 2027 (#1 Aggy with 1 5 star level guy plus another 6 4 stars, #2 OU with 2 5 star level guys, #6 Tech with 2 5 stars, #8 Georgia with 1 5 star).
  3. How hard are we trying to keep him?
  4. Probably not, but I’m sure an upper class DL from another school has put out some feelers.
  5. No way we get Anderson, right? 😶‍🌫️
  6. If you wann go play for a fat worn out old man that attends adult cheerleading competitions be my guest
  7. I get how much NIL is a factor in kids' decision these days but if there's one position group Texas has shown they can put in the league every year is the DL... Money is nice but I would look at long term. And I wouldn't want to play for a coach that's being puppeteered by his 24 year old girlfriend, but that's just my opinion.
  8. Jordan Lee is getting there, she's looking like the 3rd star player right now after Booker and Harmon, not afraid to take it to the hole or take the shot, and plays great defense. Coach Vic's building a monster with the the next class coming in as well.
  9. 🎶 this probably means that there is a bigger fish 🎶
  10. OTF currently believes North Carolina has a better than 50-50 shot to flip Texas commit and 4-star+ DL Vodney Cleveland (Birmingham/Parker), currently. The early signing period begins next Wednesday.
  11. Today
  12. 45-41 to one if the Texas schools. 🤷‍♂️
  13. AND dummies running around with blades.
  14. The fact Florida state is keeping there coach shows you they are not a serious program anymore
  15. College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild Total openings throughout carousel (16): Florida LSU Auburn Penn State UCLA Virginia Tech - hired James Franklin Arkansas Stanford Cal Oklahoma State - hired Eric Morris Oregon State Colorado State - hired Jim Mora Jr. North Texas UConn UAB Kennesaw St. - hire Mark Carney
  16. Going to move this to pinned threads next 2-3 weeks
  17. What a surprise that a guy who flip-flopped his commitment multiple times along with transferring high schools multiple times is now trasferring LMAO
  18. Bobby has said that Texas is going after more developmental players late in this HS class cause they're preparing to be very aggressive in the portal. I'm gonna predict that no fans here are gonna be complaining about what we're gonna get in the portal lol. Also wanna mention Texas' success rate in the portal. They can scout REALLY well there. The misses are mostly due to character, not talent etc... There's holes here and there but I'd be very very mad if next year we don't have a downhill running game that teams fear to open up the play action and give arch more time in the pocket. IOL and RB to me, along with some changes in the scheme, is paramount. PARAMOUNT. We can live with not getting the #1 WR or TE for example, but we desperately need a very very good interior of the line and a starting RB. On defense safety and linebacker are the priorities for me. I think the young guys at DB are gonna be really good next year and 5 might even come back another year.
  19. What's really stupid about their scheduling is they made sure Texas Tech plays both Kansas schools and both Utah schools but they only played one other in-state school and the one they chose to give them was the one they have the least history with. How is there any season in which Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU don't play each other??
  20. There is one linebacker/edge, in particular, I have my singular focus on. To have them both... for the 26 season.. would be epic. We're in wait and see mode with these coaching hires, for sure. Remember, guys wanna win and maximize their draft slots... and finishing 2nd place, like Jeff Howe loves to point out, definitely is a major factor around this time. Nobody has mentioned him yet, btw....
  21. Just stumbled upon your Northwestern reference. Interesting, thanks. (...OU can blame it on the consultants) The television-viewing experience has prompted new NFL stadiums to trim capacity by 20 to 25 percent from previous generations to bolster the value of attending in person, according to Marc Ganis, the co-founder and managing director of Sportscorp Ltd., a consulting firm that has helped drive more than two dozen sports facility projects in the U.S. and China.
  22. I'm more for the Summerall part of this thread. I still think color commentators should say less (e.g., Tony Romo).
