The circle of trust never seems to be as large during the season as we expect prior to the season starting. Hopefully this year will be different. Effective depth will be a necessity at some point during the season.

The solution to getting everyone some minutes is simple: score ~ 28 points first quarter, and begin shuffling other players in. Of course that goes with about 200 yds passing first quarter as well.👀

Emmett “Amani Toomer” Mosley

Sounds like a good problem to have as far as the WR room goes. I’d get the starters out early vs Texas st and UTSA. Give the backups some good reps. Schedule is too grueling down the stretch.

Our WR and DL rooms are just nuts. Completely overflowing with talent.

I do think Texas is potentially better at every position (not to start the season at SG), with one distinction ... Texas played two SF's last year and not a traditional 4 man, so they are combined. Lead guard/PG: Isaiah Johnson upgrade over Pope SG: Tramon Mark over Austin Goosby to start the season. Goosby has the future first round NBA draft, and possible lottery pick. But Mark has a huge experience advantage, and clutch moments over multiple years. By the last few games of SEC play, this could potentially be a push because Goosby has more playmaking ability and more ability to make plays on both ends and in transition. SF/PF: Elyjah Freeman and David Punch over Cam Heide and Dailyn Swain. Swain is the best player among the four, but Punch could have close to the same impact in different ways. The combo of Freeman and Punch is two future NBA draft picks, and Texas will have a true 4-man so this one is pretty easy to go with. Center: Matas 2026-27 over Matas 2025-26. Just natural progression of a player. This is very key here in the discussion ... the bench/depth: Mikey Lewis over Simeon Wilcher. This one isn't even close. Big upgrade. Amari Evans over Chendall Weaver, but not by a wide margin early in season. Evans in year two, making the natural jump, will bring more to the team when you combine both ends of the floor and size. Teams literally didn't guard Weaver last year on the offensive end. While Evans numbers weren't impressive as a freshman, teams will have to honor him as an offensive player in year two. He's a more talented offensive prospect/player. Evans is very good defensively. Weaver made the hustle plays very few others do, so he has a lead there over 95% of players. Marcus Spears Jr over Nic Codie (went with how the season ended with Codie playing). Not even close, even at 17 years old. Bo Ogden over nobody from last season. Lewis Obiorah and John Clark over last season. Wasn't the option last season, as early season Nic Codie was non-existent. Will be fun to watch the team build, develop and hopefully gel.

Times sure have changed since I played HS football. Our hydration station was a 10-ft piece of 1 in PVC pipe with a water hose connected at the end, and a 1 gal jar of salt tablets. Our rapid cooling zone was praying for cloud cover and rain..lol. No water break until the coaches got thirsty. No such thing as too hot back in the day.

A log jam of talent at WR may be a real thing! A very different problem even in the Sarkisian era. The days of a marginal Joshua Moore are far in the past. 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏾

Mosley is going to make some big catches on 3rd downs and in big games this year. Sure handed, and a solid route runner.

I'm excited to see what a healthy Mosley looks like. From the get go. He was impressive when he eventually got to play. McHutcheon, Lockett and Bishop could be your guys next year. They will get snaps but you really don't want to take off your big 3 for too long. I do hope Berkhalter gets some run too.

Friday Team notes: WR OnTexasFootball checked in with a couple of sources in the last half of the week on the wide receiver position. One source said the group looked "phenomenal" in the last few workouts. OTF has reported on Emmett Mosley V has looked very good this summer. That was relayed to OTF this week again. A source said the 6-2, 200-pound junior has had the look of a wide receiver that would be a No. 1 at many Power 4 schools the last part of the summer. OTF has mentioned that there is a thought Mosley V could lead the team in receptions this season. That was reiterated this week as a possibility. There is also a belief within the program that Mosley V could be a big ascender in the 2027 NFL draft with a healthy season. The last part is they key, obviously. The toughest task for Steve Sarkisian and the offensive staff this season will be getting the backups, or WR No. 4 and 5, reps if Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V are healthy and play at the level expected. And to add, Sterling Berkhalter, Daylan McCutcheon and Kaliq Lockett have a freshman Jermaine Bishop Jr. that is very likely to take reps as the season moves along. All three have enjoyed strong summers. As Rod Babers always talks about on OTF shows, Sarkisian has a small circle at the position that play in games. This season will test how many WR's can be included in the "circle of trust", and just as important how many reps are there playing this 2026 schedule. The source said the entire room has been very impressive the last half of the summer. OTF will also reiterate that Chris Stewart came up again as a player that is doing all the right things, and is showing the signs he has the chance to be a quality player. His attention to detail as a route runner have stood out. Kohen Brown's work ethic, strength and speed was mentioned once again.

Basketball: A+ for sure. Football: A for sure Baseball: MLB draft out of their control, but does that knock the grade down a little? They took some hits there, and you can't really truly recover due to timing of portal window. B+ to A-
