Any other turkey hunters in the house??
harveycmd replied to TexasDeathStar's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Only took about ten minutes. My Border Collie Gael did the entire job. About five minutes we located. She circled and held. Got up to her and a sow was charging and running back to piglets. Walked up with my head lamp shining. Gael held and the sow charged and backed. Took her through the back hip ranging up through the lung. About 150 lbs. Hanging in the trees and cooling just outside the yard now. Process her this evening. Made me have a crystal clear memory/flashback. Not more than fifty yards away in 1986 when I was fourteen, I shot a gator. My grandfather had four catfish ponds from which he sold channel catfish. Ponds are still there. A couple of gators had come in and were eating his brood fish in what he called his "mother" pond. He set up a couple of seine nets to catch the gators. We'd go check the nets morning, noon and evening. We were checking in a flat bottom, paddling out and saw the gator get caught in one of the seines. I had my dad's S&W model 25 with which I'd been practicing. Model 25 was the same as the Dirty Harry Model 29 but in .45 Colt instead. We got up about ten feet away and the gator was hung up. I held up the S&W and asked my granddad where to shoot. He said, "Shot him in the ass! I don't care." That's what I did. Hauled the gator out and sold it to my grandfather's friend up the road. He gave me the money and a 1933 buffalo head nickel. Don't have the cash, but I still have the nickel. - Today

Someone asked me how I use the dogs. I use em to hunt. You gotta know dogs and how to train them. Walker for tracking and calling in the others. Border Collie for circling and holding to move in. American Bulldog for hitting and chomping if the hog is too frisky with the other two. Mr. Ruger does the rest. -
Facts... and while we watch for the players, those billionaires have a lot of influence and responsibility, and their code of conduct seems to fall under a different category. It's societies' comfortability with such low standards that boggles me... that's all.

I agree with most of your sentiments and we will see how this Tucker situation pans out. If the man is innocent, I want him to receive all the justice he deserves. The damage that can be done with any accusations such as these are damn near impossible to recover from. I also appreciate your honesty about who it happens to, and your ire or pleasure in regards to the individual involved. We're all human, and I appreciate our differences.
-
He belonged in there, whether his wife wanted to press charges or not... and whether she decided to accept responsibility for her "part"... imo, and that's because I was raised with that belief. My ire comes with the media's selective coverage of the same incidents with different characters.
-
Yes... but that again, is my point. The media has done a great job of always tilting the ire towards the employees or individuals that earn the checks, and not the creeps that cut them.

Taking the dogs to go feral hog hunting with my Ruger Redhawk in .45 Colt (high pressure) in about an hour. They'll be running and rooting like crazy after all the rain yesterday. Line me up some pork for the smoking pit. -
Pop stepping down as Head Coach of Spurs
harveycmd replied to GoHorns1's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Popovich waited about ten years too late to retire. On Jokic: Gerry talked about him being a great player. There's no question he plays great. He wouldn't have started as a 4 or 5 in the NBA twenty-five years ago because he wouldn't have been able to defend the post in the pre-zone era. He wouldn't have been anything close to the offensive player or rebounder he is now because he would have literally been muscled constantly off the ball, keeping him from getting the position he wanted. This is a prime example of why attendance and market share are down in the NBA. -

Gregg Popovich's record with the San Antonio Spurs without Tim Duncan was 294-323 (.476 winning percentage). This record includes 8 seasons with the Spurs, 5 losing seasons, and 2 first-round playoff exits. yo -
New 2026 RB Out of Georgia Offered Tuesday

He’s a stud, got some Baxiter similarities idk if he’s as explosive but think he has more top end speed than CJ -
Difference I believe to be true...is Tucker has had no charges or civil suits filed against him, on things that happened 9-11 years ago. In fact, statue of limitations has 3 years ---so it too late to file. I could be wrong, but different facts tha Watson. I admit, I root for all Texas players and am sure I would be quicker to judge if this happened to one of our rivals

Amazing story. Chilling as a parent. Very thankful for the Munroe family that it worked out, and that Colt drops into the OTF morning show with his super chats. Blake, I think I told you that we missed you that night at Cook’s by hours. Nothing nearly as serious as Colt’s situation. I still say Colt needs a guest spot for a college pick’em.

I’m not taking sides on this debate. If anything, I understand and agree with much of what you’ve written. But if you’re going to compare Wheeler and Rice, you are leaving out some facts. Chad Wheeler is in prison; which is where he belongs. What was Rice’s prison sentence?

If he’s a legit 6’2 and running almost sub 10.6. That’s some wild athleticism right there. -

He just replaced A&M with South Carolina for June 20. My take on the offer is pretty simple. He’s damn good and Texas is going to recruit the best in the country. Penn State has also offered and is trying to get him to visit. -

LaAllen Clark has done a fine job of keeping Texas within arms reach here. He deserves a lot of credit in this recruitment. Carlton also spoke very highly of his history of high level EDGE development. -

Texas is keeping tabs on DB Jason Bradford, who is currently committed to Oklahoma State. Texas mentioned wanting to see him live in-person one more time at a camp this summer. Though I view it as unlikely at the moment.
