I think it is pretty obvious they were/are big game hunting and had no backup plan.

saw 15 snaps. 2 tackles, 1 one tackle for loss. -
There are other agents with bigger name coaches besides Sexton (Trace Armstrong).

Was he a factor when we played them? -
Ok sure, Sexton and Franklin can absolutely have a large slice of the dumpster fire pie. It can’t just be that. Is it bad admin, poor recruiting hires, low alumni participation, etc? Something more than just Sexton has contributed to this implosion.

Worried about Special Teams

That’s some solid work. That fg percentage is a head scratcher for sure. -
College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild

Previous KState coach really handcuffed them to take Klein. The co-DC at A&M will also go with Klein to be the DC. Interesting situation out there and at A&M. -
I'd prefer playing USC

This would make a lot of sense to me. Finding a LB to add to the depth while allowing Smith, Lefau, Barnes to take priority snaps until Atkinson is ready to rock larger snap counts. -

Follow-up thought: This is exactly why the portal matters more for OL than any other position. You’re not just buying size — you’re buying reps, scar tissue, and communication under fire. Those things don’t show up in 7-on-7 camps or Rivals stars. High school OL are projects. Portal OL are products. Both matter — but only one saves you next September. And to be fair, Sark finally sounds like he gets that balance. He’s not talking about “potential” right now — he’s talking about solving problems. That’s progress. If we walk out of this portal window with: 2 interior starters who can communicate 1 swing tackle who won’t panic and no more build-a-bear experiments at guard… Then this whole debate disappears by mid-October. Until then — I’ll stay, hopeful, and fully ready to overreact -
Bowls weren’t a huge thing before Paterno’s era. Case in point, Notre Dame’s first bowl appearance since 1925 was against us in the 1970 Cotton Bowl. The UPI didn’t even count bowl participation when determining their national title until 1974.

Portal wish list this year is simple: smart + nasty > just massive. Size without diagnosis is just expensive cardio. When the line finally settled this season, it wasn’t because we suddenly got stronger — it’s because guys actually understood their assignments and could pass off movement without turning the backfield into a demolition derby. OL is five brains acting as one. If the communication is bad, it doesn’t matter how big you are — you’re wrong fast and wrong loud. I’m excited and optimistic about going shopping for 3 portal starters if they can think, talk, and adjust. Zone lives on timing and trust, not weight-room leaderboards. Credit to Sark: he saw the problem, stabilized the season, and — for the first time in a long time — is talking portal priorities like someone who actually watched the same OL tape we did. If 9–3 is the floor now, I’ll take it. We’ve lived through worse. Now go kick the tires on the Colorado LT. Make him tell us no. Then keep dialing. Go get grown men who can play chess at 320.

Basically pissed off Jimmie Sexton by firing Franklin. Sexton has too much power. Penn St will either way over pay for one of his guys or have to sign someone unproven at the highest levels and cross their fingers.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DR2nZm3gQ7n/?img_index=2&igsh=MXFuMmpyaTJ4amNoNw== UConn RB. Over 3800 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career? Come on down! -
It is kind of hard for me to remember, but I don’t recall Cam Coleman being as hyped as Ryan Williams or Jeremiah Smith. Wideout hype is often overhyped. DK Moores stats this year are not that great for the money. He only 3 touchdowns we will get more bang for the buck on Oline and a proven WR.

Personally I'm skeptical of any true freshman being a big time contributor year 1. Jeremiah Smith is an outlier for a reason. Give me a portal guy.

Put all of our coins together for Chris Henry in two years aka Cam Coleman.

Sounds like Lott is clearing up language in his NIL contract, but that may be buying time to see what Henry does.

Increase our chance with Lott or has that ship sailed?

The intense pressure of needing to come in and beat top 10 teams and resurrect a program with unrealistic expectations from complete collapse, at this point. Why would a promising G5 coach or 2nd tier P4 coach leave their programs where they have decent odds of making the CFP, to go to a program where it will be way more difficult? Those types of coaches are better off staying where they are with continued success in the “juniors” until a more favorable high profile job opens up. At worst they can just wait to be the “next guy” at PSU after the immediate next guy after Franklin has to deal with the fallout.

Was never happening. Which I think is a good thing!
