I doubt anyone has ever had an AD talk like that about a departing coach. There needs to be a strength of schedule threshold where all teams have to meet as one of the prerequisites to be considered for a spot in the playoffs. Don't have a strong conference or not in one (ND), then schedule tougher opponents.
