  1. Past hour
  2. Good grief… where did I say or even imply that we would cancel OU and/or Aggy? Those are Conference games. South Carolina vs. Clemson and Georgia Tech are out of conference games. IF we had a 16 team playoff, Texas would be in. Thus, it would be stupid to cancel big OOC games.
  3. When the playoff goes to 16 teams ... none of the non-con talk will be a subject or matter any longer. Just need to get to 16 teams sooner, rather than later.
  4. He wasn’t wrong about that. LOL
  5. @Gerry Hamilton so I’m sure you’ll do a write up on this, but can we get a sneak preview as to what happened with the Malaki Lee visit?
  6. LSU got Louisiana kids before Wilson and they will get them after. The obsession some of those fans have with him is funny. Corey Raymond too but at least he used to be able to develop at one point.
  7. As long as I have been watching college football the criteria to determine whether or not a team was good has always been how many loses do you have and when did you lose. Unfortunately, both of those do not work in our favor. We beat 2 top 10 teams in November and we are barely going to be a top 15 team to end the month. A loss to Georgia at the end of October gives us time to change the narrative. Where a loss to Georgia in the middle of November impacts us way more than beating 2 top 10 teams. Do I agree with this methodology, no. But that is how college football is and I doubt that will change anytime soon. Until that methodology changes and who you beat matters more than who you lose to, the solution is not to get rid of the big marquee game in September but to move a cupcake non conference game to November. This increases our chances to go undefeated in November which should always be the goal in November. Big non-conference matchups in September help set the tone for the season and if we win those games allows us to control our seeding as long as we win the games we’re supposed to win. 2023 and 2024 are perfect examples of this. Does it suck that we are going to miss out on the playoffs, yes. Most of us expected that after watching how bad we were against UTEP and Florida. Add in how up and down we were on offense and defense throughout the year most argued how we weren’t a playoff team. My hope is that missing the CFP will change how this staff approaches this offseason. The changes this staff did this past offseason was a regression compared to 2023 and 2024.
  8. Your mistake is trying to understand and make sense of an Aggie decision. When entering the city limits of college station, a completely different type of analytical logic applies. Aristotle and those great thinkers that further defined it would just shake their heads and surrender.
  9. They very well could, like Wilson for example. He is huge in getting kids to stay in Louisiana.
  10. I think that some humans really want to fret about stuff that they cannot control. If the coaches are good (and I believe Sark is) at what they do, they will find players to fill the holes. Last year was an anomaly and will not happen again; The University of Texas at Austin is not a leper colony, and CDC knows what he's doing.
  11. I agree!! It’s worse than QB1 getting hurt IMO. This affects every single player. It’s even worse that it’s happening to those kids in the middle of a historically good season for them! If I’m a recruit I’m looking at this and staying as far away from Lame Kiffin as I can.
  12. Today
  13. Jermaine Bishop with arguably the vest performance this season in Texas high school football. Pound for pound you can't convince me he's not the best player in the state. Immediate impact player. https://x.com/JScruggs247/status/1994988801400111562?t=yZvxlnc9Ve8X1A7p6LEDNA&s=19

  14. Wonder if they force coaches on him
  15. If Kiffin leaves and guts the coaching staff at Ole Miss, then Ole Miss should miss the playoffs. The precedent has been set with Florida State. I understand it was different because their quarterback got hurt, but losing half or more of your staff would be detrimental.
  16. Looks line Lane Train to LSU If he retains Frank Wilson, will be very difficult. I'll also be interested to see if he retains Brad Davis as OL coach
  17. This should tell you where Kiffin‘s priorities are right now, as he’s more worried about assembling his LSU staff and locking down the current LSU recruiting class by NAD1 (Wednesday, Dec 3) than he is about prepping Ole Miss for their playoff game in two weeks. And Kiffin’s threat to his assistant coaches is an empty one. They are under contract to Ole Miss (not to Lane Kiffin). if Kiffin threatens to not hire his current assistants at LSU if “they’re not on the plane today”, what’s he going to do? Hire a whole new staff of assistants instead? How exactly does that help Kiffin & LSU for next season? Kiffin wants to introduce his entire staff at LSU this afternoon for recruiting purposes…so that recruits who’ll be signing on NSD1 this Wednesday will at least know who their position coach will be at LSU. Ole Miss is right to tell Kiffin to pound sand and hold these assistant coaches through the end of their contracts, which likely coincides with the end of Ole Miss’ playoff run (whenever that may be). And it’s very likely these assistants’ contracts have clauses that forbid them from recruiting for another school while employed by Ole Miss (so there’s a legal risk for these assistants).
  18. How much money did Texas and Ohio State generate playing in that opener? The committee is going to water down college football, and it's going to hit it where it hurts most, everyone's wallet. If we do cancel this game, I don't want to hear anything about it from the national media either. They made their bed when they incessantly attacked Texas all year.
  19. I did not expect a natty.
  20. NFL draft candidates will opt out, portal candidates will opt out, etc
  21. Do we need to play in a bowl game? Seniors will opt out. What more do we have to prove? The only benefit is more practice time. However, we also risk injury. We should decline any invitation to a Bowl game. Our point is to win Natties. Everything else is moot.
  22. There is zero point in scheduling really tough teams during nonconference play. Our SEC schedule is tough enough as it is right now. The goal is to win a Natty. The only way to do that is to get into the playoffs. We shouldn't even play a bowl game. We are Texas!
  23. I was just reading about t hat situation, damn crazy. The off-season is going to be insane with the portal opening up and guys getting 30 day windows when their coaches leave, etc. Most of the hires aren't like years past with big names floating around everywhere. Kiffin to LSU will be dangerous but I have a feeling he should've stayed at Ole Miss, he's proven time and time again that he can't handle big expectations. Haven't heard about Penn State in ages, what are they even doing? Lol. Looks like Sumarall is now the Florida focus, not sure the fanbase is going to be happy with another G5 HC. Tulane made him an offer to stay, but I'd think he'd take the Florida job. Arky is after the Bama DC and Memphis HC. Golesh was their original target but it looks like Auburn is going to snag him. Going to be so much fun in the off-season.
  24. Someone said it above: Beat Ohio State, 10-2, in the playoff. Probably a home game. Beat (Insert random team), 10-2, in the playoff. Maybe a home game, maybe not. Lose to Ohio State, 9-3, miss the playoff. It's that simple. In an ideal world they make adjustments to 14 team with only two byes, or 16 team with four byes. There's no guarantee of that. There's an argument to keep Ohio State and Michigan the next two years because both are our home swings (we've been away at each past two years). Playing Notre Dame 2028-2029 would be moronic. Look at what is happening to Miami right now. They beat ND, same record, and are getting left out of the playoffs. I don't know why any blue blood program (or even remotely close to blue blood) would schedule ND until they join a conference. They play by their own rules and get the benefit of the doubt year after year. I wouldn't be surprised if they surpass OU and get to play them at home! It's a real detriment to the sport as a whole and I hope Texas doesn't engage with that program until they adhere to the rules every other program does. I hope things change and Texas can keep challenging themselves out of conference, but if they miss this CFP they should at least use the potential lost money if games were cancelled as future leverage against the way the committee currently operates. Hook em, lot to look forward to next year!
  25. You cannot be so dense as to understand the difference in your examples and OP's. No one is canceling TX-OU or TX-TAMU. Geebus.
  26. Kiffin allegedly has told assistants that if they are not on the plane tomorrow they don't have jobs at LSU after the season. Apparently to put Keith Carter the ADs feet to the fire by threatening to tank their playoffs assistant pool if he doesn't get his way. He wants to have his cake and eat it too by taking the LSU job but coaching through the playoffs. Lines up with the college gameday talking points from Sexton clients herbstreit and saban. Unreal......
