How was he this season? Awful. Good he hit some home runs but he was trash in conference hitting low 200s BA. Sorry not sorry but he wasn't good. .239 BA - 11th on team .808 OPS - 8th on team .317 OB% - 13th on team 4th on team in strike outs Tied for team lead in errors Above average in terms of fielding percentage. -
Saw this mentioned in another thread and it could be a good offseason thread. I'd like to hear @Bobby Burton @Jeff Howe @Blake Munroe @CJ Vogel @Gerry Hamilton opinions as well. Lets break this into 3 categories being men, women, and coaches to start. If you want you can add your overall but I think splitting them into men's and women's makes sense and could give more recognition to the women's side of our university. Lastly coaching would be a fun and exciting to hear some different perspectives on. Men: Vince Young, TJ Ford, Houston Street, Ben Crenshaw I give Vince the nod here over some of the other football players in our history because he's considered a top 5ish QB in the history of the sport and his on field performance in leading Texas to a national championship. I also give TJ the nod here because of on court performance and leading Texas to the final 4 while KD was bounced in the second round. I went Street over Clemens because of overall collegiate career accomplishments over Clemens. Women: Cat Osterman, Madisen Skinner, Clarissa Davis, Sanya Richards Ross I think Booker could make a run for Davis depending on how the rest of her career goes. Coaches: Darrell Royal, Eddie Reese, Cliff Gustafson, Jerritt Elliott As much as I love Augie and his overall meaning to the sport of baseball I gave Cliff the nod here over him strictly based on performance at Texas.

ok, Flores is not addition by subtraction - I'm sorry but you didn't watch him the last few years if that's your takeaway. He had slumps and tough moments but he was a solid hitter (top 10 in school history for HRs) and if you're saying he was bad defensively after giving us countless web gems at SS, idk what to tell you

Borba to first, new guy to 3rd potentially because Borba isn't a good 3rd baseman. Flores is addition by subtraction as he was so bad hitting and defensively. -
BREAKING: Texas Reels In First Postseason Portal Prospect

Answered it above but you give Mac the start and 1 run through the lineup as long as her drop ball is low in the zone. If she cleans up like she did vs Tennessee then you let her go another. At any point if her drop ball starts elevate in the zone you talk to her and watch another batter. If it's still high then you pull and bring in TK. Have to give Tech a different look in this game to start to throw their hitters off and then you can bring TK in to throw them off again midway through the game.

Softball pitcher: the ultimate MVP?
Jeff Howe replied to CHorn427's topic in On Texas Football Forum
You'll find your answer if you look at Connie Clark's record at Texas with Cat Osterman and Blaire Luna and compare it to her record without them. It's not like looking at Charlie Strong's coaching record with and without Teddy Bridgewater, but the softball program's five Super Regionals and four trips to the WCWS before Mike White were either with one of those two pitchers on the roster. -

That one sucks. I happen to think he's a better player than Gasparino and should have been our full-time CF about halfway through conference play. -
We'll see. I think the focus is on bringing in pieces rather than 1-for-1 replacements. Losing Belyeu, Galvan, Flores and Schuessler is a lot to replace in one offseason, even with access to the portal. Depth was one of Schloss' biggest concerns throughout the season, so I'm expecting a lot of roster turnover.

Farmer deserves a lot of credit for the work he put in to get himself into the mix as a starter following the coaching change. When it comes to his replacement, however, I think Texas needs a corner outfielder who can either get on base more frequently (a .371 OBP with 25 walks and 10 HBP against 65 strikeouts) or provide more pop (44 total hits with 13 doubles and one home run, good for a .339 slugging percentage).
