It has to be offense.
-
In today's game I think it has to be offense, and the offense has to be effective in both the run and passing game. If you are one dimensional you can only go so far. The good teams will be able to stop you. I know Sark is an offensive coach, but the team is both. A very good combination of offense and defense on this team.

The overall offense is really in a slump right now and has not been lighting it up since conference play started. The team batting avg. in conf. is .245. What has helped is timely hitting in a lot of games, even if the hitting overall was not stellar. For example, in the game we won over Florida we only had 7 hits and fortunately 2 were homeruns. Also we only had 8 Ks in that game, which is below average for us. Pitching has also had a few issues lately (all the starters were lit up against Arkansas) and I heard that Riojas had the flu last week as well, but we have not been providing much run support either.

This was an interesting topic on the live stream just now so I'll do a quick dive in the NFL and college going by wins and winning percentage of the top 10 coaches in each category. NFL Wins Don Shula - Defense Bill Belichick - Defense George Halas - Both? Any Reid - Offensive Tom Landry - Defensive Curly Lambeau - Offensive Paul Brown - Offensive Chuck Noll - Defensive Marty Shottenheimer - Defensive Dan Reeves - Offense Winning Percentage - Will only include coaches with 10+ seasons as HC John Madden - Defense Vince Lombardi - Offense George Allen - Defense Ray Flaherty - Offense George Halas - Both Don Shula - Defense Paul Brown - Offense Tony Dungy - Defense Andy Reid - Offense George Seifert - Defense Wins: 5/10 are defensive oriented coaches, 4/10 are offensive oriented, 1/10 being both because he was a severe micromanager and owned the team? Winning Percentage: 5/10 are defensive oriented, 4/10 are offensive oriented, see above for Halas(LOL) College Wins Joe Paterno - Both? Bobby Bowden - Offense Bear Bryant - Defense Pop Warner - Offensive Nick Saban - Defensive Mack Brown - Offense LaVell Edwards - Defense Tom Osbourne - Offense Lou Holtz - Defense Frank Beamer - Defense Winning Percentage Knute Rockne - Offense Frank Leahy - Offense Urban Meyer - Offense George Woodruff - Offense Barry Switzer - Offense Tom Osbourne - Offense Fielding Yost - Offense Percey Haughton - Offense Robert Neyland - Defense Bud Wilkinson - Both? Wins: 5/10 defensive, 4/10 offensive, 1/10 both with Joe Pa coaching both sides as an assistant? Winning Percentage: 8/10 are offensive, 1/10 are defense, and Bud was both? Maybe y'all can help me how with how to classify him. When you get winning percentage in college is where it gets completely off track and I believe that has to do with some of these guys being coaches before the forward pass was introduced. Feel free to add your theories here if you'd like as to why this may be? Also if I got any of the designations incorrect please feel free to let me know.

Texas 6 seed Softball NCCA Tournament

I haven't followed softball that much this season, but am curious. I think I saw that the A&M coach is in her first or second year, would be interested in how she's been able to turn that program into such a program, albeit it's a small sample size and they have not gone through the post season yet, but they did just smoke Texas 14-2. -

They HAVE to get offense rolling. Being outscored 42-17 in the last 6 conference games is not good, no matter how you spin it. Not to mention 39 strikeouts against Florida. Bats have to get hot. Max Belyeu will be a welcome addition for sure. -

It was obviously deserved. They need to figure out their pitching situation and could use a bit more timely hitting. Stinks they are hitting a rut towards the end of the season, though. -

Hash the OU softball team has lost less than 20 games out of the last 250 they have played. I may not be exactly right but I’m close. jonah comes from a wonderful family in Galveston his Dad is a Galveston Judge I believe his mom is a teacher. His two bothers are athletes one lives in Austin played professional baseball other in Juco . Jonah is a gifted athlete more than any on 40 acres perhaps. He is definitely Prime Time. Enjoy him get use to winning. He’s definitely a highlight reel .

It's funny to see Texas fans celebrate him doing that while also rioting when the OU softball team does the same thing lol.

The next step for the historic group of Longhorns who accounted for a school-record 12 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft is coming to terms on their rookie contracts. Six of the 12 rookies were signed, sealed and delivered to their respective franchises as of Sunday. Gunnar Helm was the most recent Texas draftee to sign, agreeing to terms with the Tennessee Titans, although the terms of the fourth-round pick’s (No. 120 overall) deal have yet to be made public. With that said, the following are the reported terms for which the other five former Longhorns have signed. Kelvin Banks Jr., New Orleans Saints (Round 1, No. 9 overall pick): Banks, Jahdae Barron and Matthew Golden stand to make more money than the reported figures if their fifth-year options are picked up. Banks signed a four-year deal with a signing bonus of more than $6.93 million, but the total value of his contract ($27.7 million) is fully guaranteed. Barryn Sorrell, Green Bay Packers (Round 4, No. 124 overall pick): Sorrell’s four-year, $5.14 million deal includes a signing bonus of $941,852. The signing bonus is the only portion of Sorrell’s contract guaranteed to be paid out. Jaydon Blue, Dallas Cowboys (Round 5, No. 149 overall pick): Blue’s deal is for four years with a total value of $4.63 million. His signing bonus ($427,068) is the only guaranteed portion of the contract. Hayden Conner, Arizona Cardinals (Round 6, No. 211 overall pick): Conner’s signing bonus ($174,280) is the only guaranteed money headed his way on the four-year, $4.37 million deal he signed. Quinn Ewers, Miami Dolphins (Round 7, No. 231 overall pick): Ewers signed a four-year deal worth $4.33 million. The only guaranteed money Ewers has coming to him is his signing bonus ($131,576). The five Texas products have signed NFL rookie contracts worth $46,206,022. Of that money, $27,406,022 is fully guaranteed, with $8,607,588 in signing bonuses. The projected contract values based on the rookie wage scale, which changes every year based on the salary cap increasing or decreasing, aren’t far off from the money for which the remaining draftees will sign. The biggest issues preventing rookie contracts from getting done include language (some teams will look to put various classes in the contract that protect them from shelling out money they don’t believe they should be on the hook for) and when certain portions of the guaranteed money will be paid out. According to Spotrac, the following dollar figures are the total value of the contracts that the seven (including Helm) remaining Longhorns are projected to earn: Jahdae Barron, Denver Broncos (Round 1, No. 20 overall pick): $18,048,198 Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers (Round 1, No. 23 overall pick): $17,551,274 Alfred Collins, San Francisco 49ers (Round 2, No. 43 overall pick): $10,296,326 Andrew Mukuba Philadelphia Eagles (Round 2, No. 64 overall pick): $7,155,826 Vernon Broughton, New Orleans Saints (Round 3, No. 71 overall pick): $6,634,052 Gunnar Helm, Tennessee Titans (Round 4, No. 120 overall pick): $5,171,100 Cameron Williams, Philadelphia Eagles (Round 6, No. 207 overall pick): $4,401,198 When the remaining unsigned contracts are official, the Texas draft class will be worth an estimated $115,463,996. Likely this morning will be the culmination of a bad year for the guys at TexAgs. Have to watch that for a few minutes. On our side, hopefully Schloss can figure out which buttons to push to reverse this late season slump. He wasn't happy after yesterday's loss.
