I don't really care much about Ojo's recruitment or him going to Tech. As Bobby said, it does seem we "dodged a bullet". I do care about the lack of transparency and learning more about the NIL landscape, so I find any scrap of info about these NIL deals interesting. Bobby alluded to some of this during OTF this morning, but I wanted to post a few excerpts from The Athletic's story on the Ojo deal. Basically, Tech's deal is based on a promise that the cap will increase over the next 4 years or that it won't be enforced. I feel almost bad for Ojo and his family being taken by this agent. Texas Tech’s latest recruiting coup: How big is deal for 5-star offensive tackle? ... The Red Raiders landed a commitment on Friday from five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, the No. 1 recruit in Texas and a top 10 national recruit in the 2026 class, after the parties agreed to a three-year, $2.3 million revenue-sharing contract, two school sources confirmed to The Athletic on Saturday. ... ESPN reported on Friday that Ojo was receiving a three-year deal worth $5.1 million, according to his agent, Derrick Shelby of Prestige Management. Shelby confirmed those figures to The Athletic on Saturday, but three Texas Tech sources refuted that number, with two confirming that Ojo is scheduled to receive an annual compensation of $775,000 per year for three years from Tech’s revenue-sharing pool. Ojo’s deal, according to a Tech source, includes a verbal agreement that can escalate the total value of the contract into the $5 million range if there were a large jump in the revenue sharing cap for schools or if there is minimal regulation of schools’ adhering to the cap, in much the way there has been minimal regulation of NIL since its institution in 2021. Shelby declined to share a copy of the contract with The Athletic but stood by the initially reported numbers. As Bobby mentioned this morning, they also outline the tentative nature of all these deals being offered by USC, Tech et al. ... The news of Ojo’s commitment and contract agreement represents the continued changing tides of college recruiting. After the approval of the House v. NCAA settlement and implementation of revenue sharing, colleges can allocate up to roughly $20.5 million to pay athletes across their sponsored sports. Schools could begin directly paying players on their current roster on July 1. They can verbally negotiate deals with future recruits and send official written scholarship offers and revenue-sharing contract offers beginning Aug. 1 of the recruit’s senior year of high school, but those contracts cannot be signed until each respective sport’s signing period begins, which is Dec. 3 for the FBS. ... Basically, any commitment given in July should be taken with a grain of salt. Let's see what these NIL deals look like in December when they're in writing. 🤘

I don't think so. He's muted so much, I think of him as "the mutant". -

Would you say the freshman tight ends have been more impressive than the young wide receivers at this juncture from a future recruiting standpoint? - Today

Hello folks, I think it's safe to say that we've all had heavy hearts over the past few days and seeing the devastation in Central Texas. As someone who is not from Texas, it's been incredibly heartwarming seeing our community rally around each other and strangers in the aftermath. In the interest of full transparency, I wanted to give you the behind the scenes of why we chose the Central Texas Food Bank as our charity tonight. Firstly, while we obviously appreciate the work more well-known/national/international non-profits (Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc.) do, we wanted to make a difference locally. Secondly, YouTube has a strict, weeks-long process for applying for, and being approved for, fundraiser status. I won't bore you with the details of tax forms and such, but they only accept VERIFIED charities and non-profits to be apart of this program. Of these verified charities and non-profits, Central Texas Food Bank is the closest I could find that will make a direct, local impact. Important note: 100% of the money you donate will go to the Central Texas Food Bank. No questions asked. YouTube gets none, we get none. This is SOLELY to help those in need. As for the show itself, it will look a little different. There will be no superchat option. Instead, you will see a button that looks like shaking hands, or below the chat box you can find a blue "Donate" button. I will be able to see the name of everyone who donates - I will look for your comments/questions specifically and get those moved to the front of the line. I appreciate you guys for everything you've given me (except Joe z) and lets have some fun raising money for a GREAT cause tonight! -Matthew

Ranking CFB’s Top 100 Rivalries (Texas has three)
MarkInAustin replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
While many of these rivalries are historic, some are so new as to be unworthy of mention. Not a strange list on the whole, of course. What is being weighed by the reviewer is inconsistent, however. Tradition, or competitiveness, or recency? The top 5 all fill the bill, but putting OU vs. Nebraska at 6 when they don't play each other more than once a decade makes no sense to me. I am sure there is method to the madness if not madness in the method. -

Disrespectful Commitment Ceremonies
Paul replied to Drew Lockhart's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It is all about class and I have faith Sark will "weed" out as many of these posers as he can. I am so on board with Sark telling these kids if they are coming to UT solely for the money, go elsewhere. See Ojo's commitment. The culture has to mean something. -
Watch Mississippi State AD Zac Selmon as a likely choice. Done well with limited resources, particularly with baseball.

Celtics sold for over $6b…setting new NBA record
Inspired73 replied to Bevo92's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I don't get it. Where is the money coming from to pay the 8 Billion in debt service? Here in San Antonio, the Spurs don't routinely sell out. They have two major local sponsors.....Frost and HEB. Local TV rating are flaccid. They only command 1 tv at our favorite bar. These buyers are betting on more national and worldwide tv revenues. I feel certain that those guys are smarter than me, but gee, I just don't see where the debt service is going to come from. The only way the NBA survives is if it turns into a World league with a team in each of the top 20 cities in the world. PS: the interest on 8 billion at 5% (way below market)=400 million annually. -
