I’m not a big NIL/portal fan, but we’re both up there in distributing benefits. From a development/NFL hope, I’m not sure there’s a discernible difference between the programs as they are currently. But playing time helps so that path looked more open here one would think. I think it actually closed more after he signed on but not certain there’s.

Ohio State was pretty desperate for DT depth as well. I know a lot of Ohio State fans results to the same old lazy refrain “Texas dropped a bag” but I hate that response. Money is certainly at play in every recruit and transfer for every program nowadays, it is never only about money. But you’re probably right, Ohio State’s starting DT’s were pretty much set in stone for this season, he probably saw more of a chance competing with all new DT’s coming in together rather than guys that have been ahead of him on the roster for a couple years.

Maybe one of these other guys have a good, better answer. All, but 1, of our guys are new to the roster so there was a path to playing time. No idea on money, but we were likely more desperate than yall were.

Any word on your guys’ end on why Hero Kanu left Ohio State? He would have likely been 2nd or 3rd string here as well, but it doesn’t appear he’s in the two deep at Texas either. I’ve heard so many different reasons from our end and I’m sure there mostly bullshit.

Likely Maraad Watson, freshman all-American. Hero Kanu has also supposedly come on strong, but he will rotate in as the 5th guy.

I think that’s unknown, but we’ll rotate at least 4. Brevard, Shaw, Watson, January. If you get in 3rd and long, you may see a spin down to the interior. Maybe that’s top recruit Terry. Maybe not. Ive conceded that matchup. You’ll dominate.

Who are going to be the two starting DT’s? I assume Brevard and who else?

I watched a little of the Purdue/OSU game from last year. Even though he didn't have much help around him, Cole Brevard was pretty disruptive in the middle. He got up field in a hurry and had the OSU center on skates more than once.
