Texas at Vandy, women's hoops thread!
HookemTexas replied to Califashorn75's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I don't know if it was the gameplan, around the 2:44 mark, coach mentions that one of the coaches spent 2 weeks putting together a scouting report which they practiced and in the game the team, or player, didn't follow it at all, said 2 weeks worth of work out the window or something to that effect. -
These salaries are of enhanced value compared with most competitors because Texas has no state income tax. Explain Professional Services Payments, please. Aside from his job description, what services are to be rendered? If this is simply additional salary for the same job description why is it separately denominated? Is it contingent upon some additional service being rendered? Is the source of the funding other than the Athletic Department?

Meh that’s a cop out. Toughness and heart probably didn’t crack the top 10 of reasons they lost. Horrendous defensive gameplan was far and away #1. - Today

This reminds me of a certain Texas baseball coach, just spitting facts and owning it, but you can tell he cares about the kids and representing the university and he's passionate. Great coach. -

I'll say this, I LOVE all the ACCOUNTABILITY and LOVE VIC. Flood should watch this and see what that looks like lol. But seriously he is spitting FACTS, one of the reasons I hated NIL starting. Everything starts at give an inch and they take a mile, which now you have more divas in all college sports than ever before. -

Wow, Vic did not hold back in his post-game presser. Basically said the NIL money makes the players soft. -

She had a bad matchup and she didn't look like she had the normal Rory energy tonight. It's been a long 2 weeks of tough games so it might have caught up to her given how much she put into the other games. She'll be back with vengeance if we face them again. -

She wasn't guarding Galvan outside of a few switches. It was Lee getting juked by her and Blakes owning Rory. Just weird we matched up like that. -

Coach Schaefer and the women's basketball program are basically in the same spot that football is with Coach Sark and softball was with Coach White before he won it all last year. They seem so close, but there's something that might be holding them back from reaching the top of the mountain. Schaefer has a lot of talent coming in from high school and international recruiting over the next few years, so you would think he will get it done at some point. It seems like he's open to recruiting players that can shoot the three at a good percentage, so that will help space the floor and allow his frontcourt more room to operate. As for the remainder of this season, hopefully a loss like this a turning point that propels this team for another deep tourney run. How this team responds in Knoxville on Sunday will tell us about the ceiling of this team this season. -

This has been simple for a while. Consider us the 35-40th best team in the nation (a lot of advanced ratings have us around there). That itself is close to getting in at large. Not a lock, admittedly. But close. What is a lock is getting to 9 SEC wins (and even 8 is 50/50 odds IMO, projecting from where we are now) If we just play to "chalk" the rest of the season against those rankings, we get there easy. We have shown the ability to "play down" and that Miss St. loss still hurts, but we also have the ability to "play up" and beat almost anybody (except Florida IMO). So call it a wash if we lose one we shouldn't and win one we shouldn't. A LOT of evidence at this point says we are between 35-40 nationally... just be who we are — a frustrating but tantalizing team who averages out to around 35-40th in the nation — and beat who we're supposed to beat on the rest of our schedule (according to those advanced rankings) and we get to the magic number of SEC wins to get that tourney bid. Since about 4-5 weeks ago, when the rankings really started to stabilize and we've gotten to know who the rest of our scheduled teams are, I haven't understood the doom and gloom that says we won't make the tournament. I'm 75% sure we will🤘 -
I've got my eye on Burns and Higgins. Burns is the "pro-style closer" option with top shelf electricity in that arm. But he had control/command and mental toughness issues last year; we'll see how he's grown there. Higgins is more the "college-style closer" option... and has some similarities to Volantis as a composed lefty who is better than his stuff would indicate. Higgins has also gotten some recent preseason honors recognition, which tells me those outlets think he's gonna be our closer (rare for a middle reliever / stopper to get preseason first team picks). We can quibble about whether we have a top-end starter to match up eye-to-eye with the Casan Evans, Hunter Elliots, Gabe Gaeckles, Cam Flukeys, and Dax Whitneys of our title competitors (we don't IMO), but we have as much if not more pitching depth than anyone! It's up to Schloss and Weiner to strategize to our strengths.
