  1. Past hour
  2. Not on a national scale. But there weren't many before either on a national level. Duke/UNC is what got me into college bb big time. Before that it was all NBA and Texas games.
  3. Apart from Duke/UNC, are there any competitive, must-see rivalries any more? (And even the air has come out of Duke/UNC in my opinion.)
  4. I would say the whole 2000s is when it really peaked. I remember not being able to miss a DUKE/UNC game during that time, it was as cant miss tv as you could get for CBB.
  5. Great thread. In my mind, it is hard to argue with the 1980's/1990's, not only in terms of quality, but theatre. The John Thompsons, Jerry Tarkanians, Rollie Massiminos, Lou Carneseccas, and so on, down the line. As a young kid, one of my first competitive games was March 1990, Syracuse-Georgetown in the Dome, wall to wall coverage in the local and national press leading up to it. Alonzo/Dikembe on one side, and Stevie Thompson/Billy Owens/Derrick Coleman/Mike Hopkins on the other. Big John draws three techs in the first half and waives the towel etc. on the way out and up the tunnel. Gosh, and as I look at the box score, Jim Burr officiated. Hard to argue with it, and I've rushed the court before against JJ Reddick's Duke.
  6. I don't think the issue is the idea itself. All else being equal, the LED floor is awesome. But he knew in advance its actual execution would meaningfully jeopardize player safety and competition quality (ability to trust jumps and cuts, etc) and he knowingly chose the cool idea over player safety and competition quality. That's a fireable offense, IMO.
  7. 2028 DL Jamir Lee from Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military 6-2, 260 Texas offered on Jan. 28 Has additional offers from Ga. Tech, Miami, Nebraska and Ole Miss, among others. Sophomore tape: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/23617512/68b5b2026671c4f59536d146
  8. Maybe something to be said too for the style of gameplay difference vs. the men's game? For my own tastes at least, in the current evolution of the sports, the women's game style is more enjoyable to watch. But I don't know if this is a widely held view.
  9. Today
  10. The Phi Slamma Jamma dominance was #1 as must-see basketball during that period. Recent Cinderella run by 15-seed St. Peter’s in 2022 to reach Elite Eight. In the current era we may never see a Cinderella run like St. Peter’s again. It was exciting to watch.
  11. Yeah, that was Dylan Disu injury before Dylan Disu. Would've definitely beaten Oregon (should've beaten Oregon anyway imo) and gave Kansas a much tougher game than Oregon did in the Elite Eight for sure.
  12. It’s Garrett Gilbert’s squint all over again. The season can’t get here fast enough.
  13. 7. Kalen DeBoer should be ranked higher than Sark Freeman and Lanning dude played in a National championship idk why he gets overlooked he wins everywhere he goes
  14. A what-if moment that doesn’t get talked about enough: How much deeper does Texas go in the 2002 NCAA Tournament with a healthy Chris Owens?
  15. I’d drop Day behind Cignetti and DeBoer. I’d also put Matt Campbell in the coin flip group. I don’t think he can get ever enough credit for making Iowa State a respectable football program.
  16. I'd like to see more from Cignetti before he is anointed.... amazing year, but he is going to lose a lot of players, can he maintain? build? all the credit in the world, but sometimes you get magic in a bottle w/ a team... I'm wait and see a little more still. 🤘
  17. Rick Barnes' run from 2001-02 to 2007-08 for me. Fun era of basketball to watch. So many great wins and heartbreaking losses, but was fun watching all that talent on the hardwood during that time.
  18. If the little 12 wants a new commissioner with a ton of experience and focus on safety and no prior experience I’m Yormark’s replacement. I’m sure the idea was “it’ll look cool and we’ll be able to sell ads ON the court during game time!! Plus, we can put graphics and other trash to distract fans from actually watching and enjoying the game. Oh yeah it may be a huge issue for the players, but they’ll adjust.”
  19. Texas host Ole Miss this weekend.
  20. Duke has had too many great players to mention. Grant Hill, for a lot of different reasons, is the GOAT.
  21. Get the Northern Arizona University men’s cross country team to transfer.
  22. If there is issue with the ankle he would been a boot, so just chill.
