Pressure Rate vs Florida
FriendswoodGangsta replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I don't think anybody knew and understood football enough to predict what has happened this year. I guess you are putting it all on the o-line and Sark guy, but you understand holding on to the ball longer than anybody in college football helps the offensive line and coordinator look bad too. -
Apparently the kid from USC that ended up at Oregon is the top graded G on PFF, I saw someone post that in another thread.
-
Very bizzare.

To be fair to Florida, they played some tough teams and played them pretty close. So I'm not sure they're as terrible as we all seemed to think. But to your point, they're not a top tier program with Napier and the domination was a surprise. I know their OL was supposed to be one of the best in the SEC, if not the country but their DL was missing 3 guys, including their best one. Their Edge group was missing a guy and the group overall hadn't performed very well. Even missing a starter in the secondary. Not sure what we did for 2 weeks, but it certainly wasn't get ready to play Florida in The Swamp.
-
I don't understand the change from his perspective? Ass you said, these are college kids not NFL pro's. They still need you to stay on top of them and make sure they're doing what they need. To stay motivated, etc. I know everyone likes to rag on you for keeping it real but this does seem to be true. This team seems to just be casually strolling through the season and it worked against G5 teams. not so much against P4 teams. If this is indeed how he's approaching things, that is concerning and I've no idea why he decided this is the way to do things. Is this also the reason he kept guys out for so long, that could've played?
-
They also have a kid from Texas State on their OL, too. Seems like we either didn't evaluate that hard or look much at all. Even the kid from Rice who's now riding the bench at Ohio State would've been an upgrade at T. Seems like this off-season that might be something to watch with only one portal window.
-
Any body that can't see Stroh isn't ready tells you all you need to know about their football knowledge or lack thereof. Nice kid but not a P4 starter anywhere on a contender or even an average team. Neto may or may not be the answer , but this is on Flood and all the powers that be. Not to bring in portal OL is criminal and it is showing period.

Arch Not Seeing Field in Picture Format
Here for the Wins replied to Hashtag's topic in On Texas Football Forum
On ESPN Greg McElroy says Carson Beck is playing out of his mind. I heard that right now. He meant on a good way. Yet against UF he was at 56%, 160 yards, no TDs, 1 pick. He was pressured 19% of the time. On those 6 pressures, he was 1-5 for 9 yards and a pick. He completed 64% otherwise at a depth of 3.4 yards. But I suppose no one was open and UF was playing with 14 guys but against us, oh they were awful. Or maybe he said, “screw my game. I’m relying on the defense.” Maybe the WRs took the day off. -

Arch Not Seeing Field in Picture Format
AusMOJO replied to Hashtag's topic in On Texas Football Forum
So, what is the fix for this? Is it Arch in general or is it his development has been lacking? I'm a bit confused on that part. Not sure if he's just flustered or if he really isn't seeing these things. I remember that play against UTEP or one of those teams, where it was an out route (I think) to Livingstone on a 4th down in the red zone and he rolls out and is starting right at Livingstone who's open for the 1st down and he keeps staring him down and then reverses field and throws an INT straight to a DB in the end zone. That was such a bizarre play by him. While I don't think he's the biggest problem on this team, his development compared to say a Julian Sayin or that kid Kiffin has at Ole Miss who was a d2 or d3 QB, is baffling to me. -

He’s a moron. On that screen, there was a guy in the first window, a guy in the second window too. In all his arrogance, he tells me it's to be thrown immediately until I show him the screenshot with two guys squeezing Endries in that window so then he says the 2nd window is open and that the defender is too locked leg to the play. The absolute risk is a tip and pick. His actions were completely reasonable. So every time you get a screenshot, every defenders reaction is based on the action to the point. If a QBs head, shoulders and feet are down the middle of the field, then certainly in a non-man coverage situation, the defender will act accordingly. So, if that Qb shifts to the right flat, like in the Endries Ohio State shot, then defenders will begin to move so 15 yards of space when the QB is not ready to throw and has to throw it 30 yards, the pass catcher has to catch, turn and run isn’t as open as he appears. And sure, that curl right, imagine the corners reaction when he sees those shoulders and hips turning that way. He has help deep, he has help to the inside. There’s no threat underneath. It is entirely possible the QB identified that early and went to the other side of the field because the numbers were more advantageous. The last one before the screen. If that’s the play I think it is, there is a similar if not identical to the right. There’s absolutely no way to know which side will be open initially. But you can imagine that a right handed QB may look right first. You can pretty much do this all day, every day on zone coverage. There will always be missed QB opportunities. And you’re pretty much a moron if you think on 5 man routes the QB will find the first man open or the only man open every time. -
This is true, if Cristobal doesn't got to Miami with his OL coach who's still with him there, Banks and Williams stick with their Oregon commits, imo. Not only is Brockermeyer starting at C, he's excelling there.

Adding to the Easy Offense Conversation from Monday
AusMOJO replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
We've seen for 5 weeks now, this OL continue to struggle. No push against UTEP, SJSU or SHSU. That should've been a warning sign going off in the coaches minds. But because we put up yards and won those games, it slipped past. Even Stevie Lee kept saying so on the live streams, that the OL and DL's are getting pushed around and not playing well. How did the coaches see that and think that everything was fine? I'm not completely sold on Arch, but he's not the biggest problem, imo. Seems almost like Sark completely changed his scheme/offense for this year, thinking he had what he wanted in Arch? I'm not really sure, it just feel different and it certainly looks different. Don't get me wrong, Sark's O has been less than impressive for most of his tenure but this year, I don't even know what to call it. At this point, they might as well just go 5 wide and let Arch be your RB lol. Just joking, but if they want to have more success, he needs to get Endries more involved in the O and stop having so many long developing plays, you don't have the OL to hold up and it's causing Arch to hold onto the ball too long. Get your guys the ball and let them make plays. Screens, hitches, slants, etc. They have to find a way to move the ball more consistently. Give your OL a chance and help them out. Make the reads easier for Arch because for being a QB guru, Sark sure can't see that he is struggling at times to read whatever it is he's calling. It almost feels like he reverted back to his '22 self and started using that playbook again. -

Take a look at all the grades from the games you cherry picked from and then tell me you think they’re accurate. You also said “the film matched up”. Which film? The all 22 you’ve made reference to? Got a link?
-
Cherry picking? I'm providing a list of the top 100 players according to PFF last year, that isn't cherry picking. That is providing detailed data that shows their rankings highly correlate to success and future NFL potential. Conversely for this year Connor Stroh is ranked in the bottom of PFF starting p4 linemen and that correlates to what we've seen on the field. So laugh at PFF if you want but it gives you a baseline of grades to see if the film matches what the grade is, sure it may not be perfect but most of the time the film definitely matches the grade.
-
You’re cherry picking. They get laughed at the other board. But, sure, Neto is awesome! No wonder a true freshman lapped him.

I have full confidence that he will eventually get there with his reads and check downs but it has certainly been difficult to watch. The short and intermediate doesn't come naturally for his eyes or touch right now. Caldwell knew what the defense was throwing at him, where the pressure was coming from and to get it out quickly in space where only his guy has a chance to make a play or nobody does. Wingo converted the 2nd and 22 a crucial clutch play in the game. Aaron Murray did a good job breaking down some of the concerns with Archs eyes and decision making in this breakdown of the Florida game. All of the tools are there, hoping the mental speeds up for him sooner rather than later but I do believe it's coming. Quinn's pre snap check vs AZ St, even when the OL had a penalty to make it 4th and 13 -- was crucial to winning a playoff game. The little things and subtleties a great QB does need to be developed and improved but should come with experience. I thought he'd be much further along mentally as far as clock management, coverages, protections etc but still believe he can take us to the promise land eventually. https://youtu.be/2hMMqc6Soes?si=jKdG0rUPZ5UbDTZT -
