We could be looking at a 24-team playoff
Neil Leininger replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
FCS does it with it 24, but they have 3 extra conferences. I like 16, with the higher seed hosting through QFs. Adds something to the regular season to be able to host 2 home playoff games. -

11 votes needed to expel LSU from the SEC
Neil Leininger replied to Hookem72's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Sankey wouldn't even schedule the meeting if he didn't have the votes. I think the meeting gets canceled once LSU backs down, but if that meeting happens as scheduled on Thursday, LSU is gone. -
I’ve seen several people on here list comedians from the show Kill Tony. Not trying to be a hater, but none of those comedians have put in work like the old-school comedians. Those guys get tons of clicks for performing for one minute and all of a sudden they are superstars. Old school comedians had to put in tons of work to make it to the top. There’s a big difference between being funny for a couple minutes versus holding a crowd for an hour.

I’m guessing the way the player’s lawyers cross examined Sankey at the preliminary injunction hearinf with lines like “How’s it feel now that the Rabbit’s got da gun!?!?” Didn’t help LSU.

Lane would have to go imho. Every stop he’s made an 🫏 of himself and the school. I think it’d be a great, if not small, societal signal if one single person/entity would be held to account. They/he won’t. Money won’t allow it. Imperative we beat them in year one. 🤘🏽 -
Found this and thought it was interesting… no idea if this will have any bearing at all but still noteworthy…

We could be looking at a 24-team playoff

Don’t forget that the NFL likes expanding their broadcast windows in December. And crushes CFB in ratings. Even in the 12 team format those first round games get beat by NFL games in the same weekend. ESPN will likely need to sublet some of those early round games to manage inventory. The World Cup didn’t need to worry about an alternate version of their sport. -

The world argued that increasing the field the World Cup would devalue the quality/ or significance of the games/ matches. Turns out that was a load of crappppp. It was the best world cup of all time and its not just because of the location. There were amazing games with upsets of those lower seeds. In the end I don't care between 16 or 24 teams now. I do think the conference championship games cause more negative than positive. The money will come, even with the elimination of conference championship games and the move to 24 teams. I'm will to bet that if we went to 24 teams we will look back and say it is still just as great of a product. If I'm wrong I will come bsck and own it. But enough, is enough. Just go to 24 and lets go. -

SEC will be a hurdle. Eliminating the CCG for a couple more first round games will be a fight. -

I hope they expel LSU. They are like a rabid dog, you gotta do what you gotta do. -

LSU needs the SEC more than the SEC needs LSU. They’re not in the same position as Florida, Georgia, Bama or Texas. The Big 10 didn’t want them, and they’ll never have the same revenue in the ACC or B12. Independent? Hahahaha -

If LSU continues to act like spoiled brats that thinks they can dictate policy where do you lean? My goodness, did Cody Campbell get a graduate degree at LSU? -

I'd like to see a vote to sanction LSU and put them on probation, with some specific language that further incidents will generate an expulsion vote. If more than 2/3 of the CEOs vote for that, I think it shows L$U that the votes are potentially there to remove them. -

Hate the 24 team idea but if it led to 11 p4 game schedules I would be ok with it I guess. I hate the 24 team idea but I hate all these bye games more -

I’m not weighing in on if it will happen, I am just chuckling at thinking about how the presidents might vote on Thursday. Their needs to be 11 votes to expel LSU. Who might vote for it? 1. Ole Miss (hahahaha) 2. Tennessee (hahaha) 3. Mississippi State (kicking their rival—probably yes) 4. Alabama (eliminate a rival from their rebirt-probably so) 5. Vanderbilt - for integrity reasons 6. Florida. They may do it just so they can have a chance at Easton Royal. 7. South Carolina-will make them feel better about Beamer. 8. Aggie—self righteousness is part and parcel of the delusion. 9. Arkansas—maybe 10. Oklahoma—maybe 11. Kentucky—maybe I dont see Georgia voting against them. I don’t know about Texas or Missouri Kicking LSU out would likely also hurt the SEC revenue package so I don’t think they will do it, but I am here for the pettiness. .

If Texas wins the coin toss are you taking the ball or deferring in this particular game? -
Worth the time IMO.

We talked about the importance of scoring first for the Longhorns and getting off to a fast start in these marquee big games. Well, according to the game notes ahead of the Ohio State meeting this weekend at DKR, whichever team puts points on the board first, might just decide the contest. In the Sarkisian era – • Texas is 34–6 (85.0 win %) when scoring first. However... • Texas is just 15–14 (51.7%) when the opponent scores first. Texas received the football first in the 2025 Cotton Bowl, and in Columbus a year ago. In both instances, the Longhorns turned the ball over on downs to begin the game. Additionally, Ohio State was the first team to put points on the board in both contests as well.
