  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks, Hank, but in my mind I am erasing Jonah Williams from the football team--I simply cannot allow myself to count on him anymore. 😔
  3. Im sick of hearing about Jonah Williams and football in the same sentence. Lol
  4. Super funny. Good one. Great job. Clever.
  5. Today
  6. Lightening in a bottle happens quite a bit IMO Some of it is strong evaluation that even exceeds, Some of it is very strong development that exceeds, Late growth spurts, etc Thomas Haugh was a lightening in a bottle scenario for Florida. Todd Golden beat out Georgia Tech as a 3-star. Was far from a national recruit. About to be a lottery'ish pick. Keaton Wagler is lightening in a bottle for Illinois. Two high major offers ... about to be lottery pick after one season Christian Anderson for Texas Tech. Was 5-11.5 when he committed to Tech. Now 6-3, and a first round pick. Late growth lightening in a bottle. Not a national recruit. Tyler Tanner at Vandy. 3-star, two high-major offers ... about to be a first rounder. Just a few.
  7. You saw it in real time as the offensive skill positions were seriously lacking in that class. WR class of Brennan Thompson and Savion Red, Maalik Murphy who was essentially signed to be a backup. That class was all about the oline and we were also able to get nice contributions from guys like Burke & Blue.
  8. I think we'll wind up as the 3rd #1 seed behind UConn & UCLA. I think them only having the one loss to us but rolling through a very strong B1G conference will trump us because of our 3 losses (Vandy loss sealed our fate here) despite the head to head. We'll still end up in Fort Worth though.
  9. Man baseball is back. Potential to win championships in every sport but men’s basketball. Wish my dad hadn’t said “you will love Coach Lemons”. Been a diehard fan since then.
  10. You lost me on Pope and Mark not being free. If they somehow got more NIL based on last year then we are worse off financially than I thought.
  11. The tournament was always the expectation for me. What they do is irrelevant for me.
  12. You would know better, but I don’t see him coming back. He certainly has things he needs to work on. He is young for his class but if he is a first round pick then you have to either get a discount or come close to the money. What good is developing players like Matas only to watch them leave? Hopefully player coach relationships will matter. It’s not like football where they essentially lowered the players on the team to raise money. The guys at the end of this bench are not making money. Texas needs a combo guard that can shoot the ball, likely a small forward, without question a power forward that can face the basket and then a bench. Don’t understand why they bring in a coach to build a program but not give him the money to do that. Catching lightning in a bottle is not something program builders say. To me that’s asking him to do something without the tools to do it. Coach Miller wants to get that elite eight monkey off his back and that doesn’t fit with lightning in a bottle. What Miller needs and what CDC thinks he needs are not in line with each other. When does Miller say enough? We can’t just watch them lose every year to Kentucky, Arkansas and say well what do you expect? Texas doesn’t have that kind of money. Coach Miller makes fans actually want to watch his teams play. Maybe the underestimated just how good he is. Just my opinion. Somebody else will have to chop something off this time. I need my one hand.
  13. Good luck to the young man, whatever he decides. I love his enthusiasm and think he'll make it in one of the sports, and I think he will have a tough decision to make.
  14. The Will Wade whispers have been loud around here for a few months now. It makes no sense to me Louisiana does not produce any talent in hoops and he would be 4th on the totem pole. Thoughts? @Gerry Hamilton
  15. Well, it appears he certainly has a willing council to counsel him here on the internet.
  16. Is LSU really a better job than NC State in this era? The only SEC school pouring less NIL into basketball might be OU.
  17. The best ability is availability. It’s been over a year with this going on. It can’t continue much longer without serious decisions having to be made.
  18. I think for certain schools like Texas, it’ll be around 25%, G5 schools, probably 10-15%
  19. LSU lost again and lost the weekend series
  20. Brutal analysis--only 4 of 30 finished at TA&M For UT 2022--the first full class for Sark--looks like they finished 9: Campbell, Banks, Blue, Guilbeau, Hutson, Burke, Williams, Robertson, St Louis. Seemed like more in real time but a lot of attrition still. Wonder what the ongoing norm will be for 4 years at 1 school--maybe a third at best.
  21. Oh did not know that. Well in that case I’m all in for a 2 seed and the Fort Worth region.
  22. No, I believe the top seeds get to pick. UConn is probably picking Fort Worth because its closer than Sacramento. UCLA is obviously picking Sacramento which is why we just needed to get ahead of South Carolina so that we could pick Fort Worth before they do.
  23. The days of being an elite athlete and that being what makes up for the hours spent perfecting the craft are gone. Everyone that starts in the SEC in these two sports are elite athletes and they spend all of their effort to be the best at a single position. We will never see another Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders. Even they had to pick a sport at some point.
