  1. Past hour
  2. Have you officially crowned them as texas tech geese?
  3. There's not a "cap," but there is a limit to viable NIL funds. I've been on record saying there is almost no chance this "clearing house" entity withstands higher judicial scrutiny. Even so, that doesn't mean that the NIL market won't become more stable. As that plays out over the next couple of years, there is good reason to be cautious about monetary risk in an unstable market. Texas will not have a talent deficiency in the next couple of years.
  4. Today
  5. I think most of your premises are correct, but the problem is that we are either: a.) playing against guys who don’t treat the settlement as existing; or b.) able to throw a ton of money at a singular player since their roster does not require a significant retention rate (Tech).
  6. The problem is we are operating like there is a salary cap, while our competitors are not.
  7. I don’t understand all the hand wringing. Guys - this is simple. Here is Sark’s strategy: 1. Invite guys to visit unofficially to show they are interested. 2. Have guys come on official visits and show them all the amazing things UT has to offer and have them fall in love. 3. Start handing out NIL offers as a way to “choose” the guys they want. Low ball guys that are low on the list and see if you can get “value” commitments and give the guys you want a “solid competitive offer”. 4. Guys who love UT will commit with NIL offers that are on or under budget. 5. Guys who do not commit but the staff really wants - you keep recruiting through the whistle with knowledge of what the NIL market is for the player. 6. Circle back in December and match NIL offers for guys you want and since they loved everything about UT they will choose the good guys by simply matching or getting close to the NIL number. This ensures UT is never setting the market or bidding against themselves. Effective and genius!!
  8. Yep. All posted in the newsletter.
  9. So all the NIL packages offered by all the other schools were available to you to draw that conclusion? I'm impressed!
  10. Our roster is full of players who took the highest NIL deal. Especially in the 25 class.
  11. It seems to me that missing out on a recruit that is making it all about the NIL isn't much of a loss. Most likely, they'll be the first ones to transfer if they don't get an NIL raise down the road. What you want are the recruits that see the big picture...NFL caliber development, great education, life-long connections, incremental NIL opportunities in a thriving city and state, etc, in addition to a fair initial NIL package. Those are the guys that will stick around for 3-5 years while they develop and earn playing time. It's a tough balance to achieve, but Sark seems to be good at it so far.
  12. Don't keep us posted Unbelievable
  13. Bobby a lot of people have been asking why we keep calling it a roster cap when NIL as we have known it isn’t going away. There is a cap on university funds, for sure, but why are y’all talking like that’s the total amount that can be spent on a class when NIL deals are still on the table?
  14. I’d be interested if we try to add another edge prospect
  15. At what point do you push the "panic" button?? Texas has done well at the end of cycles. My only issue is playing russian roulette year after year and hoping you dont end up with snake eyes. Just food for thought.
  16. I don’t have any real problem with where Texas sits right now. Texas has lost exactly one recruit where the Horns’ NIL offer matched or exceeded someone else’s and that was to a home-state team (Crowell). Texas does not have unlimited NIL. Neither do other teams, though some are acting like it. Let me ask you all this: are any of the players left on the board worth 1/15th of your entire roster salary cap? Maybe there might be but that number is few and far between. Today alone, Henderson and Guervil just went for those amounts.
  17. Lordy
  18. But but but , there were Hi's announced 🤣🤣🤣🤘
  19. For those keeping score at home
  20. A Wesley and Carlton duo would be quite a pair.
  21. Maybe push for isn’t the right phrase, but the very site said we decided not to match the NIL for Simeon. Don’t think we were sweating Henderson’s decision today knowing that will go all the way to December. Krempin and Roseborough we didn’t have slotted into spots where it was worth the NIL. When Bryce Perry Wright announces for A&M “over Texas” next week are we going to consider that a miss? When we stopped going all in after getting Wesley. Not all decisions are equal.
  22. He also high jumps 7' and long jumps. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjEtNBDa/
  23. Lmao the panic thread gotta love it, we will be fine. The staff is going to have like 20+ isn commits from the guys we really want then we can focus on getting the cherry’s on top to finish off the class like the past 2 years
  24. Which ones do you think we didn’t push for?
  25. If you actually believe Texas pushed for and didn’t land all 8 of these guys, you must be new to recruiting. Just because a guy officially visited Texas doesn’t mean it is a “miss” if he doesn’t commit here. Texas brought in 44 official visitors for a class that will under 30 guys.
