Arkansas @ Texas Game Time Set | 2:40pm CT on ABC
Shmatt replied to alrightalrightalright's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Arky can legitimately put up 40+ if we don’t come out a strong defensive game plan. -
Think this week may be Sark's toughest coaching job since year one. Which direction does the team go this week and Saturday? This team has fallen far below expectations, agents are probably chirping and trying to get extension deals or look for deals, etc... Arky has absolutely nothing to lose, and will come with spirited fight IMO

I’ve seldom seen him this smug after he plays Alabama. -

Until last night we controlled our destiny on a team that replaced 10 of 11 starters on offense. I’ll take that over wondering if we’ll be bowl eligible after getting beaten down by OU the first week of October. -
The ABC nationally televised slate for Saturday will be: Missouri @ Oklahoma at 11am CT Arkansas @ Texas at 2:40pm CT Tennessee @ Florida at 6:30pm CT The only other SEC matchup is Kentucky @ Vanderbilt on ESPN at 2:30pm CT. The rest of the SEC plays OOC games: A&M plays Samford Georgia plays Charlotte Auburn plays Mercer Alabama plays Eastern Illinois South Carolina plays Coastal Carolina LSU plays Western Kentucky Ole Miss and Mississippi State are on byes.

Yes, this is distasteful and uncalled for.

Ehh pure recruiting pitch that if you watched the game you’d know he’s full of it. Physicality was at the bottom of the list of reasons we lost. Preparation discipline communication gameplan 100 other things physicality -
After his initial script of plays is exhausted, Sark's offense had about as much thought and continuity as you'd find at your average intramural game. There is too much going on during the game for Sark the head coach to focus on what to do offensively. We ran the ball quite well in the first quarter, but then abandoned it. Why??? Because Sark the Head Coach wasn't able to step back and see the big picture. Instead Sark the Offensive Coordinator panicked and it was "bombs away" as usual Furthermore, I am so tired of this "bend, but don't break" bull s*"t defense I may burn all of my burnt orange gear. (Believe me that would rival the Aggie bonfire!!!) Our secondary was useless for the first two series they played 10 yards off the LOS and then backed up. An easy 5-8 yard completion every time. After those series we pressed them at the line and amazingly it was 14-10 going into the 4th quarter. Then after we close the game our "bend, but don't break" b.s. allows Georgia to control the ball for probably 12 straight minutes (thanks to the onside kick that, amazingly, Sark said they practiced for) and put the game away. We're leading the nation in sacks so you know the QB won't have time to accurately throw intermediate to deep routes. Use that to your advantage. Wouldn't you call that a form of "complementary football?" Isn't it amazing that you can watch other teams go an entire half, if not a game without a false start penalty? And didn't we all know when the flag was thrown on Niblett's long return in the 2nd quarter that Warren Roberson had been flagged for either holding or a block in the back? It was game changing as the return had breathed new life into us. But instead it cost us 50 yards and backed us up to the 11 yard line. The fact that Warren Roberson is still playing Special Teams and why the OL has so many false start penalties are proof that there is no discipline/accountability on the team. I guess that is part of the "culture" Sark is fostering.

The post-Mack Brown decade of doom was painful but last night was downright awful because it showed just how far away from the top the Longhorns now find themselves as they look up from being laid out flat on the canvas. I played high school football long ago in the Wishbone era and one season my team went 1-9. I was a captain on a really bad team. It was 2A football in Texas and mismatches happened, but we lost to the defending state championship team 103-0. You read that correctly. The Referee came to our locker room at halftime and told our coaches he wasn't stopping the clock for any reason in the second half. The defending champs' HC voted for me on the All-District ballot and told my HC it was because I didn't quit or fold. I still have my letter jacket from 1971 with the "Honorable Mention All-District" patch.

#fireeveryone did I do that right ?

Herman was coming off a big season with a bowl win over Georgia and then just totally under performs the next year and then goess off the trails. I think Sark is potentially at a crossroads moment. He needs to make staff changes, either give some authority to Brandon Harris or hire somebody he can, and hire a OC so he can focus on being head coach. We've all seen these moments on the past with head coaches. Mack did after 2003. I guess we'll know in the two months whether Sark can do it.

Well, get ready. The Dominos could start falling over and this could get ugly. In fact, I fear it's likely to get ugly in Austin. Regarding the game in Athens last night I was struck by recalling something Gerry Hamilton said recently. In evaluating recruits, you have to ask if the young man "Likes" football or "Loves" football or "LIVES" football. Very true, Gerry. The NIL money these days smoothes things over a little for college football players after a disastrous performance like last night, but a team needs as many players as it can get who are in the category of "LIVES IT." Texas has 1 NC and 3 conference championships in the 2000’s. As a Horn fan hate to admit it but this is a normal season 🤘

Who cares what shots anybody takes if we dont ever play with an edge. Kirby smart is just the most recent example of people commenting on the texas program in this manner. When is the texas program gonna move around daily like we want to hit the opposing team in the mouth. Program mentality needs some help. Texas is plenty talented enough. This isn't these coaches first rodeo either. All these guys have been around champions. When they decide too, texas will dominate any and everybody. Until then, we as fans must endure what we see. - Today

This has been a Herman type year. Come in with the highest of expectations, just to go 7-5 or 8-4. Coach distractions mid year. (NFL rumor). Team undisciplined and the talent/development looks subpar. If we have the same type season next year would Sark be fired?
