5-star LB Tyler Atkinson visit note OnTexasFootball exchanged messages with a source very close to 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson (Loganville, Ga./Grayson). The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder is currently planning to make a visit to Texas again prior to making a decision. When will that visit happen, OTF is waiting to hear exactly. Texas has been by the school this month. Georgia is considered the favorite with Ohio State, Clemson, Auburn and Alabama also mentioned frequently. OTF considers this recruitment a long shot, as of today.

OTF Premium OTF 4-Star WR Drops Final Five (Monday 1:30 p.m.)
CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
James is open to Texas, more than you would expect from a typical Oklahoma recruit. Texas also has a strong list of targets at WR with Lott now being in the conversation at the position. Aaron Gregory, Jabari Mack, Jalen Lott, Kaydon Finley are all crowding the top of the board. Plus, Chris Stewart is already in the class. -
The timing suggests Landon Barnes.

He was CDC's guy. I don't think a loss in the regional, even one to Texas, would've changed his mind. Since every other hire he's made has been a home run (Mike White, Vic Schaefer, etc.), I think CDC earned the benefit of the doubt. If you believe a coach is right for your program, it would be incredibly shortsighted to change course based on one weekend.

Here we go again... 😂 🤘

@CJ Vogel@Gerry Hamilton How are we feeling about this one? Are we just a hat on the table or is there legit chance to land him? -
Well, How do!!!

Completely different situation IMO and baseball standards are much different. Also you can factor in that CDC isn't the AD who hired Pierce.

If Flores doesn’t make this error…
BobInHouston replied to Hornito's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The broader question is, do you fire the worse coach even if he beat the new coach? CDC didn't hire Miller after the EE. He waited two years and hired him. -
That's Pierce's fault he used NIL in a socialistic type manner and not in a manner other major programs are using it.

If you know you're right, you make the move and take the heat. If you are wrong, you may get fired. -
Pierce was getting canned regardless and honestly who cares at all? The program trajectory was awful, Pierce was aloof with regards to NIL, roster management was bad, and assistant coaches absolutely hated working for him. We're better off so move on.

Couple follow ups here: 1. Aggies would’ve used a lot of pitching in the losers bracket and trying to beat Texas in 2 more games. 3 games in 2 days would’ve been hard for them and given Texas a resonance chance. 2. You’re skipping past the fun speculation part.. If Texas eliminates Schloss Aggies, can CDC then fire Pierce and hire Schloss? Of course he could fire Pierce in almost any outcome other than a CWS finals appearance, BUT could CDC hire Schloss? Hindsight, Schloss is far superior, but would we as fans have accepted that? Would donors? Did CDC have the pull at that time to swing that? It’s easy to say now, and after Schloss got to the finals that it was a coup. But if Texas ruined atms season and sent Schloss to the showers, would we have hired him a month later?? I say unlikely. What say you?
