Lubbock Judge Grants Injunction for Brendan Sorsby
Bunk Moreland replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Again, this was clearly a Pyrrhic victory for Tech. It won’t really matter if Sorbsy is eligible if they forfeit all their games or if the Big 12 teams boycott those games. What the hell did they think was going to happen? Did Joey and Cody actually think the rest of the college sports universe was just going to roll over for their bullshit scheming? Karma. -
Have no clue to Texas chances. Question is how NIL plays in her decision. Six figures is a lot of money for early 20s years. My wife got a big promotion by moving to Midland(both of us are retired landman).

For you and the Texas Tech Admin and fans that appears to be the case but for anyone trying to set a positive example and uphold the rules of the game it’s not. -

Unfortunately yes. There’s no consequence of one’s own stupid behavior just a innocent victim. -
What do you think Texas' chances are? Not sure if she had any love or hate for Texas growing up. Of course Tech and Sooners both think she's going to them. I'm biased of course but I don't see how anyone could want to go to either of those schools barring money (which Texas has). Tech is located in bfe and the town is boring af (having worked in oil and gas I've had to travel around there many times. Same with ou, there ain't nothing in that state, and then you have to listen to one song all the time cause their band apparently only knows that one song. And then there's the hideous colors.

I think the winner of the Big 12 gets a bid, so that won't work. NCAA should lay down the gauntlet - something like "OK, the judge says you can play him but our NCAA rules that you agreed to say he is clearly ineligible for his admitted gambling, so Tech will forfeit every game in which he plays". Probably illegal to ignore the injunction but would Tech call their bluff? Probably but at least the NCAA would be taking a stand. They always cave. -

So I was thinking about NIL, wasn't aware of the Sorsby thing today, that for sure is wrong. -

Yahoo Sports reporting that the ADs from K State and Georgia publicly questioned whether they should play tech again. The Nebraska AD suggested this should lead to a breakaway. Tech, Cody, and the judge getting dragged through the mud everywhere in mainstream sports reporting. -

CFP committee should refuse to give them a playoff bid. Their schedule is so weak anyways a 12-0 tech wouldn’t impress anyone -

So excited for this season. Feels like this team can actually make a push for the conference and a FF appearance. -

Wait until this transfers over into peds/steroids. Oh it’s okay, he’s just a drug Addict and needs rehab. maybe Kirby says his players are adrenaline junkies and that’s why they speed? the mental health excuse and “irreparable harm” is just a scary slope -

This is a great post. This is why Pete Rose should never have a place in the baseball hall of fame. Gambling kills sports everytime. It is a red line that must be enforced.

With billions at stake for College Football Programs…IMHO the NCAA is clearly outmatched FINANCIALLY by financially backed college football programs. The NCAA cannot pay for high priced attorneys who have the time and financial resources to challenge NCAA rulings. Tell me—how can the NCAA even compete?? -

That is subjective. This is a legal issue so wrong and right get decided by the system. I actually still have lots of faith in our courts. I think the decision to let BS play is a bad one, and I think the system will correct itself as long as the NCAA fights. -

Absolutely not . They got away with not paying Mike Leach . They will not get away with opening players gambling on their on team when they are privileged to knowing the injury list . -
FYI Torres originally committed to Texas A&M to play with her sister, however her sister transferred to McNesee
-
TTU had a soul???? Not since Leach left.

Any credibility that college sports had left has gone out the window with this ruling. Legalized gambling on sports across all 50 states and everyone is taking a piece. NIL with no real guardrails. Everyone knew there would be a few schools that would push the envelope and still not one entity took any control. No conference commissioner, not the NCAA, and not any federal or state government. College sports has opened Pandoras box and they are reaping what they sowed.
