  1. Past hour
  2. Schloss says there typically has been an adjustment period for Texas teams he’s coached against in the past when moving to a natural playing surface. Says that will be a test this weekend.
  3. Jim Schlossnagle says he made a deal with Casey Borba to grow a ‘stache when the team won five straight. Well, Texas has. Now the Stache is here until there’s a loss.
  4. I think T'Vondre's personality gives him a chance to become a fan favorite wherever he goes. The NY market could be really good for him.
  5. It's the worst. It's the land of meatheads...and Carlos Bakery. I do like a good lobster tail from the bakery.
  6. 100 agree but Saleh is with the titans now so may be better for Sweat in the long run given what he did to the Jets…
  7. Team will leave around 11:30 this morning to trek down to Houston.
  8. I don't wish New Jersey for anyone, sucky place all around.
  9. You are correct, but I was trying to point out a dynamic in many high-stakes legal disputes in college sports, including NIL contracts and buyouts, including the case of Brian Kelly's buyout, LSU attempting to avoid paying the full $54 million. Filing a lawsuit often isn't primarily about recovering the full contractual amount through a trial verdict—it's a tactical move to create leverage, force negotiations, and push for a settlement that both parties can live with.
  10. I met Earl a few years ago around lunchtime on 6th Street back in the early 2000's and watching him walk made me hurt as he seemed like his old injuries were painful and getting worse. He gave and took so much punishment, it's not hard to understand why. He was incredibly nice and we chatted as we walked to our parked vehicles. Earl seemed like a really good dude to be on your team and lead your locker room.
  11. Coastal apparently lost their top 2 starting pitchers for a pretty lengthy amout of time yesterday.
  12. Texas baseball will have a media availability this morning over at the Disch. The Longhorns will depart to Houston for their weekend series this afternoon. A handful of Horns will speak, as will head coach Jim Schlossnagle. Notes and quotes in the comments down below. Weekend Schedule: Friday: vs. Coastal Carolina (7:00 p.m.) Saturday: vs. Baylor (7:00 p.m.) Sunday: vs. Ohio State (2:00 p.m.)
  13. Actually Rashada's lawsuit was the polar opposite - he sued Florida because they lured him away from a $9 million Miami offer with a $13+ million offer and then refused to pay it when he showed up on campus. The others were guys who signed NIL deals and then signed larger NIL deals with other schools and didn't want to pay the buyouts.
  14. Hoping it turns out well for T Sweat but the Jets organization is so disfunctional so I expect them to screw it all up.
  15. The game last night, and comparing our talent level to Florida's, who also is a state school, raises questions of what we are doing compared to what they are doing in the realm of the above?
  16. Really sucks for T Sweat. Had a very solid first two seasons.
  17. Well, the Titans don't view Sweat as a fit for Saleh's scheme, and the Jets want him after losing Quinnen Williams, so hopefully it will be a good move for Sweat.
  18. As NIL, revenue sharing, and the transfer portal redefine roster economics, it feels worth digging into how Texas basketball is structuring its strategy and whether we are optimizing. I am curious how others see it. What questions should we be asking @Gerry Hamilton about our NIL structure, priorities, and competitiveness? Budget What’s the estimated total NIL budget for Texas Men’s Basketball this season, and how does it compare nationally? Can you break down what portion is revenue-sharing vs. collective funding vs. individual deals? Players & Recruiting How much NIL is reportedly being targeted at high-value players/transfer portal targets? With so much attention on NIL and the transfer portal, how is Texas approaching NIL differently for incoming high-school recruits versus transfer portal targets — and how does that shape recruiting priorities for basketball? Competitive Strategy How does Texas’ NIL approach differ from peers like A&M, Oklahoma, or national powerhouses? If we are not going to pay top dollar for the top guys, what is the best lane for Texas to be in from an NIL standpoint? Booster Dynamics What hoops-specific booster engagement exists outside of the Texas One Fund? Can Miller get his own whale? Are there any emerging organizations or funding vehicles geared specifically to basketball? What else should we be talking about in regards to NIL?
  19. Poor guy. He deserves better than the Jets:
  20. Today
  21. Same thing I'm thinking.
  22. 100% agree Gerry - a tournament appearance is house money this year (anything beyond the first four is exceptional). The expectations are absolutely ridiculous for people who have not cared about the team before Beard got here. 0% chance we win in Fayetteville. Have to hope you get an OU win and favorable draw in SEC tournament to take one more.
  23. I'm on YouTube Premium and haven't seen a political ad in years...just my two cents
  24. We need that, plus other top finishes from our highly ranked programs (M Ten, rowing, beach volleyball, etc) to be in the running with Stanford. My biggest concern right now is track and field. Both are ranked in the mid-teens currently. We need that or better to stay competitive. And then, it also depends on Stanford. Both basketball teams are on the bubble - we need both to miss the tourney. What about Stanford baseball? They haven't had a strong start to the year. We need them to miss the post-season as well.
  25. They could potentially go after Texas Tech for tortuous interference if they induced him to break the contract. Now you’re talking big money.
