The Film Guy Break shows we are in trouble with Arch
jhookem91 replied to Levester White's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I just watched it last night. The all-22 is damning. Arch makes a few elite throws, but most of his play is maddening. He can’t see the field, can’t process in real time, and/or does not know the concepts well enough. I fully acknowledge that we have a lot of other issues on offense (not to mention special teams). Nevertheless, his play is totally unacceptable from a senior making his 21st start. If his name was not Manning, he would be on the bench. If KJ is not a better option at this point, that is another indication that Sark and his staff do not develop QBs well. -
Texas fans after good news: "This is actually bad news." Texas fans after bad news: "See, I told you." Must be exhausting watching football like that.

The Film Guy Break shows we are in trouble with Arch

Man 16:57 is terrifying. I think the biggest issue with Manning is in his head. Just seems to not have a great football sense and grip of the game. Peyton and Eli weren't generational based on arm talent. Peyton especially was an OC on the field who could out think you. Now I don't expect Arch to have anywhere close to that in college. but he seems to be struggling with basic route concepts and decision-making. Let alone being able to read defenses and take what they give. I have been purposely detached from reading anything on the game since I was madder than I have been in a long ass time.. so just now getting caught up. Just so many self-inflicted wounds. -
The Claim This Morning that the Offense is "Just Average"
Lnghrn replied to AustinsTruth's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I think you have to look at several factors. First the strength of p4 defenses you play greatly impacts your offense production. We’ve faced 3 -p4 defenses and all rank pretty high. Ohio state ranks in the top 5, OU ranks in the top 15 and Tenn is around top 25 (off the top of my head). Second, you have to look ant the quality of the non-p4 competition. Even if you look at our non P4 competition in UTSA and Tx St they are better teams than most of what the other P4 teams face. We had 380 yards vs a then top 10 OU defense. Georgia has a top 30ish ranked offense but most of those points came vs very weak non-conference opponents. Georgia has 303 yards against OU, while we had 380. It’s one data point but it illustrates how some of the teams weak schedules can really influence their team statistical rankings midway through the season. Top 10 defenses generally win out over top offenses. We held Ohio State (top 5 ranked offense) to around 300 yards of offense. Besides Texas, Ohio State’s offense has faced very weak defenses, other than maybe Iowa. -

Texas is 2-0 against Top 25 opponents this year. 17-14 overall against Top 25 under Steve Sarkisian -
My sarcasm meter picked that up.

Who cares.... Beat Florida Beat Ole Miss Win October.

Texas is 11-point favorites.

CJ, what is the line on the game today after the report on the Florida QB?
-
All 3 games have come down to the very last play. We Longhorn fans have been holding our breath while the ball is in the air hoping for the best. 2 out of 3 worked out. Pleeese stop, give us an easy victory at home ! Much easier for my blood pressure. Hook'em

The Claim This Morning that the Offense is "Just Average"
Red Five replied to AustinsTruth's topic in On Texas Football Forum
There was "Most talented offense since 2005?" talk in the offseason. I know we've played some tough defenses but what we're seeing is inexcusable. -
I don’t care who plays and who doesn’t…if we lose it’ll be because of more of the same from the Texas team. I’m so disillusioned with the 2026 team and this staff right now.

We do particularly well against backup QBs.

The Claim This Morning that the Offense is "Just Average"

100%. What I get tired of hearing is we had to play the top 3 defensive minds. But, we all see the issue that every DC knows how to defend Sark’s offense. Blitz and overload the front. The defenders can get to the QB before any receiver even turns back to look for the ball. -
No, that was his brother, who did not play.

Wasn't the guy who had the INT return for a TD in the OU game listed as 'doubtful' in their mid-week injury report because of an amputated leg? -
Yeah I mean that really wasn’t their fault. Yes it was a team loss and everyone on each side of the ball deserves some credit for that loss, but the defense did pretty good overall.

Vasek Needs To Stay On The Defensive Side Of The Ball

On that punt, his avoidance of blocking the rusher that blocked and recovered it, did look conspicuous.
