The season was not a waste. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, I could have enjoyed it more. But if you didn’t like watching Texas develop as a team, then I think that’s on you.

If you don't make a playoff you can't compete for a national championship, anything less than playoff birth is failure.

The season improved especially offensively but I didn't enjoy watching the offensive struggles, a turnstile at left guard most of the season. The run game was abysmal most of the year.

The team really didn't play a full game where all three phases played well for an entire 60 minutes. Yesterday's game was probably the closest to that.

Didn't enjoy the Ohio state game, San Jose State was a struggle, UTEP was ugly. Kansas was ugly, miss State was ugly, Florida and georgia games were disappointing.

Second half vs OU, first half vs Vandy, offense vs Arkansas and Sam Houston State and yesterday's victory were enjoyable.

If Texas replicates this season next year it would be a massive disappointment.

Its not a complete waste but it fell below the standard that they have set, especially as a pre season number one. They improved tremendously which gives great optimism but the players and staff expected better and as fans, we do too.

A waste

If anyone mentions - “but we beat Aggy and OU”

Who cares.

Now go spend big and win it all next year

It wasn't a waste at all.  They did NOT underperform.  Instead, we as a fan base overrated them.

We lost the following to the NFL: 4 starting offensive lineman. our starting tight end, our best receiver and.......oh yea, our starting QB.

We should never have expected a CFP appearance.  We should be happy we got as close as we did.

I'm impressed with this team.  We are a couple of inside offensive lineman away from a top 5ish team next year.  What more could we ask for?

At this point, another 10 win season with how this season started is a win in my book. This team ought to be hungrier than ever next season if and when they get shafted in the bracket. Maybe that lights the fire under sarks ass that’s needed. Team could’ve sputtered and easily been a 5-6 loss team this season. And at least that won’t be happening

Bobby I understand this sentiment but we have zero nattys in the Big 3 since 2005.

We have one natty in 50 years. We have more resources than anyone.

This season was a waste. Yes we saw development but let’s be real we expected a natty.

Do you think Kirby, Saban, Day had “development” years in year 5. They win natties. You don’t have those at this stage.

You might have expected a natty, not much of anybody else here did. Now I expected the playoffs no doubt. But natty? That’s 2026.

Find me one mod on this site that predicted Texas to win the national title this season. If you expected a natty after Florida, or really even after the non conference schedule performances, you have unrealistic expectations.

This is preseason.

Don’t move the goal posts

Did Kirby or Day have “development” years in year 5.

I hear you. But my point is assuming Texas was gonna win the natty knowing what was being replaced is just unrealistic in my eyes . I expected to at least be in the final 4, maybe even get to the title game. But Ohio st was always the team to beat and have shown no reason to think otherwise

This needs to change, we need our expectations to be higher than ever. Not settling for what we have achieved in the last few years.

Day and Kirby  didn't win it all until year 6. Georgia missed the playoffs in 2023. Day and OSU also missed the playoffs in 2023 which was his 5th year so yeah he was rebuilding.

I think when I mention “development” years… we are beyond that. I understand you can’t win a natty every year but teams that recruit like we do (Bama, UGA, Ohio State) don’t have developmental years in Year 5. Playoffs or bust every year.

CDC is the issue IMO.

And? Still didn't win it til year 6.  What is hilarious is this time last year after OSU lost to Michigan amd had 2 losses almost every OSU fan wanted Day gone.  Sounds familiar to our fans the last few weeks. LOL.

2 losses would be nice. Ohio State didn’t pay a major opponent in the preseason. Would be nice to be 10-2.

Yes. Had we played Sulross state instead of OSU we would be 10-2. These OOC games are dumb and Texas admin are idiots if we keep playing them under the current system

And I do agree missing the playoffs is inexcusable.
