Marcus Freeman NFL Rumors

Marcus Freeman is the current betting favorite to be the New York Giants next headcoach (-250 as of yesterday). More reports of teams reaching out / interested starting to circulate (from more legitimate sources than a guy wearing a Just Fine hat taking the trash out I might add 😅). 
 

I think the Titans/Giants jobs would be a downgrade from Notre Dame (both poorly run orgs the last decade). But where it gets interesting is Baltimore and Pittsburgh could both be in the market for new coaches…

Because Freeman isn’t an NFL coach, these teams can talk to him and not publicly report it. Freeman might be all in on ND, but this is something I have bookmarked… just a little fyi  (Finley, come on home!)

Was not trying to be shady, I love the G-men! But it hasnt been a beacon of stability lately 😅 I have enjoyed the Jameis content from them this season tho, vibes improving!

Oh no, you are spot on haha. I wanted Jameis the whole time over old man Russell purely based on content like you mentioned. Dart will be on his 15th concussion by the season ends unfortunately.

haha not wrong. I will say beating Philly was my highlight of my season. I have low expectations every year regardless if we have potential with the young guys.

That would be the cherry on top of a colossally bad fall for ND. It’ll be interesting to see if Freeman would actually bolt on his team after everything that transpired.

It’s something I’ve thought about…the ND AD is doing a whole lot of talking, which is getting all of the coverage. Is this the real story and he wants to keep the focus on him while they figure it out with Freeman bts? My tin foil hat is on, and I’m eager to see how it all plays out.

In listening to the ND AD rant and rave against the ACC, makes one wonder if ND is laying the groundwork for their next steps after the ACC dissolves in 2031.  

When combined with these rumors of Freeman leaving for the NFL, makes one wonder if Freeman wants ND to get out of the ACC scheduling partnership (5 games per year).

Totally. That's why I won't get upset if/when Sark jumps ship to the NFL eventually. Austin obviously nicer than South Bend but still just a lot easier of a job.

I feel the exact same. Coaching in college is absolutely more challenging than NFL (no structure, nonstop, no rules, etc). Don’t blame any college coaches for heading to the league if given the opportunity.

You sacrifice control as a NFL HC. Many things are out of your control that could wind up getting you fired.

It’s the same in college….you cannot control other teams offering your players the bag, having unexpected attrition/injuries leading to poor results, etc etc.

college football coaches are the ultimate GMs of their programs. They have much more final say so over everything. Rare for NFL HCs to have final say so.

Depends on the reporting chain regardless of pro or college. Vrabel, Reid, Shanahan, et al, have the GMs report to them. Just like Cal, Stanford, OU the GM is either the co-report or supervisor of the coach.
