Moderators Jeff Howe Posted 4 hours ago Moderators Posted 4 hours ago Thirty-one years ago today, Priest Holmes scored four touchdowns for the Longhorns in a 35-31 win in the Sun Bowl over a North Carolina team coached by Mack Brown. 3 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted 4 hours ago Author Moderators Posted 4 hours ago This got brought up in another thread, but Priest's three-year NFL run (2001-03) is as good as any running back in history. There's no telling how different his career would've gone if his body hadn't let him down. 4 Quote
Waxahorn Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I remember that game well. Little did we realize that Mack would soon come to Austin to take over. Quote
bevocbs Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was in school at the time and my girlfriend (now wife) did not know much about football, but went to all the games with me. She LOVED Priest (or Anthony as he was originally known). I have no idea how she had such an eye for talent, but she always questioned why he didn't get more playing time (over Shon Mitchell or that Ricky guy). She was so infatuated with Priest that I ended up getting her a Priest jersey that she got him to sign as he walked off the Tower steps during the a&m Hex Ralley. She still has it in the closet. There can't be many of them around since it wasn't legal to get player's names on jerseys back then... I can tell you she really enjoyed that Sun Bowl! 1 Quote
Migas & Fajitas Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago I remember losing my s*** in front of the tv when Priest when airborne over the pile to score what in my mind remember as the game winning TD. Quote

There's no telling how different his career would've gone if his body hadn't let him down. His 7.5 game stretch before season ending injury in 04 was shaping up to be his best season ever too. He was at almost 900 rushing yards and 14 rushing tds in half a season. He was on pace to finish with like 2300 total yards and about 30ish tds that year. 1 Quote
