Pet Peeve: Portal goodbye letters...

....these are the most insincere, fake goodbye letters I have ever read. Why do athletes entering the portal feel as though these make a difference?  Spare us the boorish words and just leave! They all sound the same and are likely written by AI. Just once, I would like to read one that speaks the truth, "My agent said he's been talking to a school that will triple my NIL money! Laters!"

On the other hand it makes no sense to burn bridges gratuitously.  Leaving one job for another is more often a business choice than not.  On the occasions when it is the result of combat or torture or sexual predation a polite response is hypocritical, but they are few and far between.

The part that I find funny is 99% of the letters contain "with that being said". I get the reason for the letters, it's just amusing.

It’s allows them to say goodbye and thank you. Have no issues with them. It’s called being an adult.

One of my pet peeves is when people make very generalized, sweeping statements that classify each and every individual the exact same way based on one factor alone. Is money/NIL a factor in transferring? Yes. But can the players also be appreciative and respectful on their way out? Yes. Two things can exist at once, it doesn’t always have to be one or the other.
