  1. Thanks for sharing! Also, it took me a hot second to figure out that was you. Never seen you without a hat before today. If I had a head of hair like that, no telling what I could accomplish!
  2. With the injury to Townsend, you never know who will step up.
  3. Agreed. I think it's also noteworthy that we've had various TE body types through that time. They haven't necessarily stuck to the plus 6'5" type TEs that most teams seem to stock.
  4. I must admit that when we recruited winston as a TE, I was left scratching my head due to his size (6-1.5 / 230). I didn't doubt the recruiters, but it was just a bit odd to see such a short TE be recruited and project at that same position. All I could think is that he was an athlete, and this looks to be the case (I'm sure Gerry and the boys spoke to this previously in his recruiting). Dropped balls aside, he has shown tremendous drive with the opportunities he has been given. I'm curious to see how they will use him going forward, especially since I saw him line up in different sets as well as Sark's praise after the Ohio St. game of his ability to put his foot in the ground and get vertical. I know Townsend, Masunas, and Shannon will each have their own talents to bring to the field, but there's just something about Winston that makes me think he will contribute more to the team's success than what was initially thought (at least by me). Hook 'em! P.s., So proud of this team as a whole to embody the slogans/mottos used by the team (Tough all day, all gas, no brakes, Texas Fight, etc.). These were more than words on Saturday.
  5. I guarantee you that nothing good happens in that room. I'd hate to see what the other side of the room looks like...
  6. No sir. Fellow West Texan here. My thought growing up was that if I'm going to pay for school, why in the wide world of sports would I go to Lubbock. Might s well stay in town and go to the JUCO, which I did. Lol.
  7. Some subtle shade thrown tech's way this morning on college game day. Someone obviously saw this little jewel and thought it too good to let go. Looks like everyone outside the Big 12 literally runs Through Lubbock.
  8. This is like asking me to choose my favorite child. I can't do it!
  9. My vote is for the Mayo Mothership or the House of "Hi".
  10. The AD saying that the integrity of the game is sacred is as hippocritical as it gets. Reminds me of politicians and how they'll say anything to line their pockets and keep themselves in office. This whole ordeal is gross, and the fact that it involves our state and affects the only sport I love is terrible.
  11. I was originally thinking of another similarly named burger joint when I saw this post.
  12. The part that I find funny is 99% of the letters contain "with that being said". I get the reason for the letters, it's just amusing.
  13. Mini Murph? I love it!
  14. Totally off topic, but this thread got me to go to the longhorns roster page and reminded me of something that kept bothering me this past year. I had the feeling that Kobe black reminded me of another player, but I couldn't come up with anything. Then it clicked. I think he got that dog in him...

  16. Name's Champ. I don't let him out much on account of his tendency to run wild.
  17. @Gerry Hamilton If we get into another portal thread, I would like to nominate some AI generated titles: The Re‑Recruitment Roundup The “If You Know, You Know… And You Know” Portal (personal favorite) The Portal of Pending Payments The Direct‑Deposit‑Determines‑Destiny Draft And for those last minute pickups: The Surge‑Pricing Stampede Last‑Week Inflation Festival NIL Inflation Station (Now Boarding)
  18. My mind instantly went to junior high on this one.
  19. I humbly retract my previous statement and offer my most sincere apology for even hinting at the doubt I may or may not have had towards this year's portal management. The sheer black magic wizardry displayed over the weekend was epic, dare I say legendary.
  20. Moved from there back in July to East Texas for work. I sure do miss the BBQ and Birria. The traffic not so much.
  21. I'm not a doom & gloom guy, and I trust the staff, but this time around feels like a bizarro version of Midas touch. Most everyone we contact turns away.
  22. Ran across this article from yahoo sports this morning that gives a peak behind the curtain of deals being struck. Very interesting read for those like me that aren't well versed. It's crazy (but not unexpected) how this back door sorcery has evolved so quickly. Moves like university aligned third‑parties redirecting corporate sponsorship dollars directly to athletes (funds that once went to athletic departments) is wild , and I can't help but wonder how this move in particular will affect funding for all other school sports that don't draw the attention/revenue that football does. For agents and agencies cashing in, this must feel like the California gold rush or the housing boom in the '00s. Crazy time to be a fan of college sports. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/how-are-schools-trying-to-lure-top-tier-qbs-in-transfer-portal-heres-an-inside-look-at-lsus-pursuit-of-brendan-sorsby-162435817.html
  23. Also, not in Katy, but if you want some of the best ribs you have ever had, go to Pinkerton's BBQ. You won't regret the drive. Plus, Owner is a massive Horns fan.
