Moderators Jeff Howe Posted 19 hours ago Moderators Posted 19 hours ago Yesterday, April 29, marked 20 years to the date that Vince Young was drafted No. 3 overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2006 NFL Draft. VY wasn't an NFL bust, but his career should've been longer and more prosperous. FJF! 4 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted 19 hours ago Author Moderators Posted 19 hours ago CJ and I spent time on last night's livestream looking back at the '06 draft. That's one of two drafts ever in which Texas had two players picked among the first seven selections (VY and Michael Huff, who went No. 7 overall to the Raiders). The only other time it happened was in 2002, when Mike Williams (No. 4 overall to Buffalo) and Quentin Jammer (No. 5 overall to the Chargers) went in the top five. 4 Quote

Califashorn75 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Where you go in the draft matters. VY needed a coach who would play to his strengths. Instead he got this sham of a coach who somehow kept getting NFL jobs. Fisher is the embodiment of the good ol' boy network. 3 Quote
Jc Dobbs Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago In late July '06 I was in Nashville for a convention for my employer. I took my daughter (then 11) along with me and we stayed in a Downtown Nashville hotel. We were in an elevator going down to the Lobby and the elevator stopped and the doors opened. In stepped Vince Young. OMG. I quietly said "Hook 'Em Horns!" and he smiled and reached out a handshake. My daughter (a future UT graduate) was in awe. Someone else in the elevator (who obviously wasn't in the know) asked him what he was doing in Nashville. His answer just about floored me. Vince said he was in Nashville "Trying out for the Titans." Talk about humble! When we stepped out into the Lobby he graciously stood there and chatted with us for a couple of minutes. He noticed my UT class ring. Then he showed his ring to my daughter and she told him she had been to the Texas -OU game twice and had seen him play, and she wanted to go to Texas "someday." He couldn't have been nicer, and he told her "I'm sure you'll make it." My daughter was amazed at how big he was... like most kids, she didn't understand how most college football players are big guys. Time flies, indeed. Thanks to VY forever and Hook 'Em! 1 Quote

Don’t get me wrong, some are still talented, but check out the last names, they are the same familiar ones in a lot of instances . Quote
