I thought this was an interesting comment. I don't know just how accurate it is in regards to 20-25 teams, but if that's the case, we are going to see some incredibly competitive tournaments moving forward.

I think it's definitely accurate. Too many 4-5$ million dollar players in this cycle for their not to be a lot of 20'ish teams.

There was 1 last year at 20 mill, with a few others north of 15.

This year, 20'ish at 20

Prices were up up 30-40% .... glad Texas stepped up ... otherwise no shot

Seems like it got up to that (high) level quickly, didn't it?

My first thought was to be surprised at how much $ players are being paid after NIL and Rev-sharing came into existence... but my fancy Economics courses at UT taught me that scarcity commands high value, and then you add in the competitive marketplace of colleges and their fans with resources and you get the results we're seeing...coaches and players compensation going ever higher. Oh, and then there's the TV $.

In Gerry's area of expertise -- recruiting -- the first cuts are size and speed. Then comes talent, and many people don't realize just how "special" most college athletes are in comparison to, say, the regular student body ( who themselves are "special" because of their test scores and academic skills as students).

It's the combination of size, speed and talent that makes the players worth what they are being paid.

Thank goodness we're fans of a flagship state university with resources and competitive leadership.
