Kareem played 20 seasons, appearing in 1,560 regular-season games. He even played 80 games during the 1983–84 season when he broke Wilt Chamberlain's scoring record, and played 79 games at age 38 in 1985 when he was the best player in the world during the Finals against the Celtics. 

Kobe believed he owed everything to the people who saved up money to watch him play, knowing it might be their only chance to see him live. He played every game he could walk, famously playing the entire 2009-2010 season when the Lakers beat the Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals with a broken index finger on his shooting hand.

Haha. This was 100% caused by SEC and how much the NCAA is winning "stay"s in court. Mitchell's agent took potential path of least resistance 

And he's still not a lock to be eligible this season.
