Find a place where the entire purpose is discussing Kobe, ranking Kobe, reliving 1996, debating Shaq, quoting Jerry West, and telling everyone how long you’ve been a Lakers fan. Somewhere there may even be a handful of people who are interested in hearing your Kobe takes for the 700th time - possible but unlikely. Because this is a Texas basketball board, and yet somehow every topic eventually becomes another chapter in your lifelong Kobe documentary. Texas recruiting? Kobe. NBA discussion? Kobe. Shaq gets mentioned? Emergency Kobe dissertation. Someone says “Jerry”? Suddenly we’re back in June 1996 hearing what Jerry West supposedly “told us.” We understand the thesis. You love Kobe. You think Kobe was better than Shaq. You have thought this for decades. Congratulations on the consistency. But nobody here is waiting for your next personal Lakers anecdote, and nobody needs your autobiography attached to every basketball opinion you post. So please, for your sake and ours, go find a board dedicated to Kobe. Maybe you’ll finally find the audience you seem convinced exists. And if they don’t care either, that may be useful information. Here's some useful information. 27 June 1996 @ 4:30 AM on my way to work. I was driving from Lewisville to Frisco. Edited 2 hours ago by harveycmd Quote

He's definitely more in the elite skill set of pace control, spatial geometry, rhythm, etc.. with length, strength and the ability to shoot the ball with true PG vision/natural feel. Quote

He's 6'2" and he's slow. He ain't more skilled than my grandma. Do what you want with him. Quote
harveycmd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He takes two seconds to get shot off. If you are telling me that translates to the NBA you're lying. He hugs ass. Quote

Doesn't matter to me what they say recruiting a player. He won't make it in the NBA unless he speeds up drastically. Quote

It's always whether guys become good players or ascend to be elite players in the league. Quote

Got it. You are 100% on record as a bust October 4, 2026. I'll give you credit in a few years if you are correct. Quote

How can a PG/Combo guard be slow as christmas and be considered elite on "skill." He ain't got not skill. The greatest skill players of all time were quicker than lightning (kobe, jordan, irving). You are losing this, Gerry. Quote

Everyone is always losing in a convo with you ... per you. You absolutely can have elite instincts, pace and feel as a player. You can be elite in many ways without being the fastest athlete. Quote

What does that have to do with NBA badassness? Maybe that's an unfair to slow boy Black. Stephon Marbury was quick as lightning. He didn't compare to NBA greats. Quote

You and I are talking about two different things. You think he will 100% be a bust in the NBA. And in no way should sniff being a first round pick, or maybe even draft pick. That's what I'm picking up. And that's cool. You may be correct, or you may be wrong. I'm of the opinion that he will be a first round pick, and pretty good shot to be a lottery pick either after one or two years. And I think he will stick in the NBA. I don't know yet if he will be a solid NBA player, or ascend to a very good pro. Too early for me on that. Where I'm at right now... will likely end up being a 6-4'ish version of Tyus Jones. But he could ascend beyond what I currently believe. Black is still 17, so too early to make a declaration on my end. Quote

Jerry West bet everything on a 17 year old being the best player in the world within five years. Black won't be the best college player in three years. I've never seen a lack of lateral quickness like Black be considered anything other than horrible. HE SUCKS! That doesn't matter to Texas. Don't pay him and you're clear. Quote
