Check out his reaction to being the reason USC Lost to Utah.

i was watching it live, he gave Utah the 1st down and was really emotional about it. Seemed like a real team guy there.

Maybe something in the water at usc. I love emotion, but straight up ugly crying seems to be something completely different and unnecessary

Honestly does anyone REALLY know if this kid is or is not a culture fit?  Yes i realize the multiple high schools and colleges is not a good sign but that doesn’t mean the kid isn’t coachable and a good teammate. Heck our running back 1b was felt to be a lost cause by many and look at him now.  For all you know he made the money grab to usc but is now homesick or has some other issue that could bring him home ala adonai. Coach del la torre seemed to have good things to say about him. Let the coaches figure it out before jumping to conclusions

Hey man, you’re welcome to your fantasies, but I’m not sure it’s helpful to be sharing them in public.

If anyone is living under the illusion that Bear Alexander is in the portal for reasons other than NIL, get a frigging grip and kept that silliness to yourself. Jesus.

I’m sure Bear is a team first kind of guy who is just misunderstood.

Hey I’m realistic about the situation and am very aware of the most likely truth. However unless you know the kid and family personally there is no need for a holier than thou attitude about it. I am aware that is your shtick on these boards but not everything is so black and white.

I have several of Alexander’s Denton Ryan teammates on our roster like Ant Hill and Austin Jordan.  They won a championship at Denton Ryan together so I’m sure they can vouch for his character and keep him in check.

Bear is the quality player Texas needs . I believe Coach Baker can handle him . If Bear has a real desire to win a championship Texas is his team .He has to buy into our culture. If he hasn’t matured as a person Texas doesn’t need him .Like Bobby Burton said. Let’s wait & see.

Bear has already won National Championship at Georgia his freshmen year.

Hard pass on this dude. There is a reason he went to 4 high schools and is working on his 3rd program in college. Juice ain't worth the squeeze.

He did go to a ton of high schools but to my knowledge it was his choice to leave those schools. It wasn't like he was kicked out and each and every one of those schools would've gladly had him stay additional years. Now college seems to be a little different based on stuff from the Georgia boards and what the SC mods posted above. Guess we'll see.

Seven successive different schools in seven years is way more than a mere red flag.  It is a screaming air raid siren!

Not everything is black and white, and that isn’t “my schtick”, but this situation is. You equivocating otherwise just creates noise in the thread. If people can at least understand the legitimate variables associated to the matter, interesting discussions can then occur. Noise gets in the middle of that. Take the maudlin “think of the kid and his family” notion and post about it on Twitter or in your diary if you feel the need.

Ant Hill is doing a lot of work for you in this post. A hell of a lot.

Okay whatever man.  You are entitled to your opinion and I have respected the value of your perspective through the years on other boards.      I just don’t speak in absolutes.  We will see what happens if he indeed gets into the portal and if sark then goes beelining to his home.

We know he moves from team to team. We also know he has talent but has anyone seen him play? Is his motor at 100% for every play or does he take of ton of plays off. If he is the standard talented guy that takes plays off it is pass for me since we know what those type players look like from 2010 to 2020.

There is clearly evidence that he has taken off plays in the past. However consider 2 things. He had a huge amount of snaps last year and would be expected to contribute with less snaps. Thus we might be able to get more out of every snap. Second this would be a contract year for him as a junior. I think coach baker could motivate him for this.  Of course all of this discussion could be for nothing if he is simply leveraging usc for more money and stays.

The irony of the reporting on this guy from last year to this year is quite humorous. Went from not a culture fit, Sark has standards on who he wants, he’s in portal for wrong reasons, etc…to not everyone will be a choir boy.

There’s no irony in the reporting.  It’s actually a pretty simple explanation as to why Texas didn’t pursue Alexander last year.  We had Murphy and Sweatt to play the 0 technique and now we don’t.  Both those guys will be drafted in the first or second round of the draft!  We need to get Alexander and the Grant kid from Michigan to make up for the loss of their production.

There’s obviously more of a need for him now, no doubt. But the fans opinions and reporters opinions of him are drastically different. Last year folks went out of their way to say he’s in portal for all the wrong reasons, isn’t a fit due to culture concerns, head case, the list goes on and on how his character was attacked. Now, suddenly all of that isn’t mentioned.

He’s definitely a “polarizing” figure…😀
