On Texas Football Wednesday Night Livestream! Come join us at about 7:10pm

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Longhorns!

Please join me, Lifetime Longhorn Rod Babers and recruiting guru C.J. Vogel for tonight’s OTF Livestream on YouTube. We’ll have the latest on Jim Harbaugh, Ryan Williams, any transfer portal/coaching hire news, check on any HS offers and see if there’s any scoop from the early workouts in Austin. We’ll also have our usual lively chat going on, as SuperProducer Matthew Hutcheson moderates and throws a few questions our way. Superchats are always appreciated and a great way to get your question answered or to share a thought. And since I rarely remember to ask during the show, please like and subscribe! Ring that bell!

See you soon!

And the best in the business! Honestly y’all provide so much insight and knowledge and make being a Texas fan that much more fun!

Thank you so much! And I think we may get a special cameo from one Bobby B. Will be fun to mix it up with the boss!

@Ray Peters I’ve grown to love the Wednesday show.  You do a great job of navigating the topics and directing the discussions.

Can you give us a little more background on your career and what you did before “retirement”?

Chewie, thank you for the kind words. I attended UT a lot longer ago than I’d like to admit 🤣, got a journalism degree, and fulfilled a naive dream to become a sportscaster by taking a low paying job as a weekend guy in Midland/Odessa. Was only there about 13 months, but covered a lot of really good HS football. I then left for a Sports Director job in Waco, did that for 10 1/2 years, and was Gus Johnson’s first boss. I then was the station’s main news anchor for another six years, then left TV for medical marketing jobs (way better hours, way better money).

I reconnected with Gus in 2011 and took a job as Sideline Producer for Fox College Football. I’ve helped out over the years, while being able to keep my real job intact. I retired at the end of June, and simply asked Bobby one day if he needed any help (I recognized he was working what seemed to be 24 hours a day). We did a little test run, and he said I could be part of the team.

I know I’m on the bottom of the totem pole and woefully out of practice, with not much time to get back in the swing of things doing it just once a week, but it’s cool. Got to keep the brain cells alive somehow!

Again, thanks!

Ray, you're not on the bottom of any totem pole! You're the crazy, cool design at the very top! 🙂

Thank you, Bobby! I’ve seen those faces on the totem pole, and I do see the resemblance! 🤣

By the way, here’s Sherrone Moore’s post game interview that aired live following the Michigan win over Penn State. Thankfully, this remains uncensored. It’s even crazier than I remember. Maybe three f-bombs,  at least one s-word for good measure. It’s a classic! I know you keep things clean on the channel, but is good TV!

He definitely hit the interview trifecta:

Crying, cussing and thanking the Lord all in 10 seconds. I like the guy; I like that authentic emotion from people.

I just don't know if he'll work long term for them.

Different situation behind it all, but think it’s an emotional hire similar to Rodney Terry.  Seems like the right thing to do to most people lost in the clouds at the moment, but everyone with a brain knows it’s not the right long-term play for the program.
