We’re down to 52 days until kickoff, so today’s countdown spot goes to some pretty solid names in burnt orange.

Samuel Cosmi turned into one of the best offensive tackles Texas has had in recent years, earned second-team All-America honors in 2020, was first-team All-Big 12 that same season, and wound up as a second-round NFL Draft pick. He also did something you almost never see from a Texas offensive lineman: scoring a rushing touchdown.

Charlie Tanner deserves some love too. He was a dependable piece of the offensive line in the late 2000s, played in 45 games with 33 starts, earned all-conference recognition, and started every game for the 2009 Big 12 championship team that played for the national title. 

DJ Campbell played in 50 games with 43 starts and became a steady presence up front over the last few years. He was a big part of the lines that helped Texas reach back-to-back College Football Playoffs and the 2024 SEC Championship Game.

Current No. 52 is freshman defensive lineman James Johnson.
