I have not been watching matches, but volleyball is down compared to their standard.  Dropping sets where in past Texas would have swept easily without much fanfare.

It's not lack of talent so only thing I can point to is coaching, Eric Sullivan apparently was the cog in the machine.  Team has not been as dominant since he left.  And the middle blocker position has dropped off dramatically.  Texas was pumping out Olympians left and right until he left.

Feels like something going on , just too much talent to be so mediocre. We know due to trophies it is not the coaching ability. Ability being the key word.

Like Sark, Elliott is stuck in his ways and is willing to go down with the ship as long as they win or lose that way.

I really like watching Texas matches (Not so much this year) but in no way consider myself a volleyball expert so why has the team fallen so far this year? Is the talent overrated? Did Elliot forget how to coach? Not that long ago Texas getting swept by a mediocre Oklahoma team would be unheard of now its not even surprising

Allegedly Elliot thinks he has the formula for the future and insists that he knows what he's doing (sound familiar?).  He refuses to play Swindle (won a championship her freshman season) for whatever reason.  The setter is the QB.  Binney is no better at setting than Swindle, is significantly shorter so the the opposing teams just hit right over her when she's in the front row (where Swindle is a legitimate blocker) and the team lacks fire.

Additionally, many fans have commented that Elliott looks like he's checked out on the sidelines, Spears looks like she's checked out as well.  The last few years have seen highly recruited players surprisingly transferring out (Ames & Whit for example) who are doing well at their new schools.  Like someone said earlier, it really seems like Elliot is like Mack Brown post 2009 where he seems to just be coasting on the laurels of his previous success and doesn't seem to have the same passion for his job.

The Swindle thing is baffling Wonder if he has something personal against her

No one has the answer.  What makes it even more baffling, he refused to play Melanie Parra because she wasn't tall enough, she transferred and was elite for TCU.  Yet he'll play short setters all day long when he has a capable tall setter who's won.  Kentucky won the championship abusing Jhenna Gabriel's block because she was short.  This year, every other team has feasted on Binney being front row so much that they can't even get out of the rotation until they've given up a string of points.
