EastTxBiggs Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I went and watched Gilmer’s scrimmage last night. What in the world are they doing having Camara play almost like a split end/slot/fullback position? Yeah he’s a big athletic kid but they got him trying to run down safety’s and corners to block? Absolutely out of position and doing that kid a huge disservice for his development in my opinion. They literally had him lining up out wide dumbest crap I’ve ever seen. 3 2 1 1 Quote
Red Five Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This sounds hilarious. I want to go watch a Gilmer game now. Quote
NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago And it’s wild the average fan naive fan will see five stars beside his name and think he’ll come in ready to contribute right away. That kids going to be multiple years away before he is physically and mentally ready to even break into the two deep here. Quote

My personal favorite though is “recruited over” by the next 5-star (or in Flood’s case 4-star or maybe high 3-star) savior that has yet to play a down at UT. The desire for immediate success/gratification is the enemy of development for the vast majority of HS recruits. 1 Quote

Think he'll have a bit of a different role once we're in the actual season and are done with scrimmages. But they're gonna get him the ball too. Definitely unorthodox for a 5-star OL, but he can help them win games that way. Gilmer went 4-7 last year which is the worst record I can find they've had in the MaxPreps era goes back to 2004 (can't see earlier season records), so I assume they're getting creative with Camara in this way because it's easy to assume the talent pool is down from what it's been. There's also very few players in 4A-DII that will be able to get him to the ground by himself. And Cedar Hill runs the ball with Jalen Brewster multiple times a game as well. 2 1 Quote

I’ll be there as well, I hope this experiment ends because it looked ridiculous. Quote

I’m cool with handing him the ball some, especially on goal line, but out wide at the slot in-between the 20’s. Come on now. If he gets his hands on a DB yeah they are a toy for him, but that’s rarely gonna happen, I don’t care how nibble he is for his size. That’s just absurd. Quote
Carlos Ramirez Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago Maybe he is a hidden jem of a running back. LOL Quote
