I have to go with Jelani McDonald. Ty'Anthony Smith had some big hits in high school but is probably a bit too undersized to really decleat guys in the SEC. Here's a clip of him and Jasper vs. Waco Connally in the playoffs during Smith and Kobe Black's senior seasons. Jasper won and ended Black's HS career. Kinda crazy seeing how skinny Smith was at that point

Rev share is directly from the school. Each school can use around 20.5M for the entire athletic department. Since football is the main money maker at every school, football will usually get 12-15M of that depending on what school they're at. A school like Duke or UNC will have a larger percentage of their 20.5M rev share dedicated to basketball more than Texas would. Each school splits it up a diff way. Rev share money is also effectively guaranteed since athletics departments (of big boy programs) will easily clear 20.5M in revenue each year. NIL are 3rd party deals that have to be approved after submitting through the CSC (college sports commission) clearinghouse. These can be deals like an instagram promotional post, a paid appearance, or an ad campaign for whatever company, etc. It just has to be a legitimate, verified business and a deal that gets approved by the clearinghouse for it to be legal. Each player's pay is split up a diff way. Guys who only make 50k a year are usually rev share only. If it's 600k for a year they can go 400k rev share and 200k from NIL. Most agents and players push for as much rev share money as possible because when these contracts are being ironed out, a school can say 'hey man we'll give you half of your 500k payment through NIL deals with businesses" and then months pass and that school hasn't set up any NIL deals, they're still trying to get them through the clearinghouse, or that business no longer wants to pay the athlete. Unless you're a legit top of the line player, it can be really hard to have actual 100% guaranteed NIL deals months in advance or at least on time with what contracts say. There's also plenty of folks who stopped using the clearinghouse and are now just pushing NIL deals through since there's not much the NCAA can actually do to enforce anything. It's all really a case by case basis because each school's front office and GM does things differently and on the flip side each agent and each player will have different unique requests.

Usually monthly but a few guys are now starting to get basically a signing bonus too. For example on a 200k contract, a player will get 80k upfront and 10k each month. He’ll get the 80k when he enrolls or resigns the next January etc. It’s usually a player by player basis though since all contracts/situations are different. A fair amount of agents push for the signing bonuses so they can get their percentage upfront or 50% of their percentage upfront and the rest in 6 months.

The difference in Texas' offer and Northwestern's offer was over half a million dollars and Northwestern's offer nearly doubled Texas'. So taxes were never gonna make a real difference. I get what you're saying about Texas not being his dream school after all, but this is modern recruiting in a nutshell. If Siler was in the 2022 class or any class before it, there's no doubt in my mind he would've ended up at Texas

Miami definitely peaked in the playoffs. Ohio State did as well the year before but I think a lot of that was from that team being ridiculously pissed off for several weeks between losing to Michigan and blowing out Tennessee in Columbus. Once they hit their stride they never looked back.

This. He was THE guy at OT for Northwestern and they treated him like THE guy with the way they recruited him and the way they put together a 7 figure financial package. Texas stayed in the 6 figures FWIW. On the flip side, he wasn't even Texas' top OT target on campus last weekend and he knew that. If this recruitment was 5 or 10 years ago there's no doubt in my mind it'd be Texas, but we're in 2026 where this is a perfect example of modern recruiting. He's also gonna go play for OL coach Tim Drevno who has a great track record as well. Drevno was with Harbaugh at Stanford, SF 49ers, and Michigan. Drevno also spent time at USC, UCLA, and Ohio State. Both schools checked all the boxes but Northwestern had a bigger financial package, a faster path to the field, just as good if not a better education, valued him more, and were on him earlier. This was always going to be a tough recruitment to win for Texas

To my understanding all-22 footage of CFB is super hard to get. Schools have access to it through PFF or other platforms that create special subscription packages for programs, but those packages aren't available to the general public. If I'm not mistaken I think most of the analysts who have access to all-22 college football film have logins from sources on staff. That's how writers get access to the actual NCAA transfer portal database. But PFF or whomever has their stuff on lock where all-22 film usually gets taken down pretty quickly if it's posted on YouTube or social media. CJ might have more than that but I think it's pretty hard to get for the general public. If you're an NFL fan you can get access to it by paying for NFL+ or whatever subscription the NFL offers for fans to access all-22 NFL film after games have been played. I also haven't seen any live broadcast form of all-22 besides Amazon's Thursday Night Football secondary broadcast that's a permanent skycam angle but is essentially all-22.

Has nothing to do with grades and everything to do with UIL rules on athletes transferring for athletic reasons.
