Moderators Blake Munroe Posted August 23 Moderators Posted August 23 We’re 13 days away from kickoff against Texas State, so let’s take a look at some of the best to wear No. 13. Michael Dickson headlines this group. The 2017 Ray Guy Award winner was a unanimous All-American and turned punting into must-watch football during his time at Texas. His performance in the 2017 Texas Bowl remains one of the most dominant games you’ll ever see from a punter. Todd Dodge was a key quarterback for Texas in the early 1980s and helped lead the Longhorns during one of the program’s strongest stretches of that era. Ryan Palmer developed into a very productive defensive back, finishing his Texas career with 136 tackles, four interceptions and 24 pass breakups while earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. Les Koenning played wide receiver for the Longhorns before going on to a long career in college football coaching. And Jerrod Heard gave Texas fans a very memorable individual performance. His 527 yards of total offense against Cal in 2015 set a Texas single-game record at the time and he later made the transition from quarterback to wide receiver. Who gets your vote as the best Longhorn to wear No. 13? 3 Quote

westx Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Michael Dickson by quite a bit, imho. My #2 would be Palmer. I liked Dodge and Heard, but not a distinguished enough of a record. Koenning, I don't know enough about 2 Quote
bourbasted Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Michael 'Longball' Dickson was one of the most dominant players at his position in college football history. When your punter is the best player on the field for both teams, he gets the nod. 1 Quote
Alex Butler Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Dickson then Heard IMO. We did Jerrod dirty not playing him and letting him grow at QB Quote
John Boyle Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Todd Dodge gets my vote! He did not quite live up to his billing out of high school, but he did accomplish a lot for the Longhorns at at time when he was needed.🤘 Quote

We didn't really have the coach needed to develop him at the time and once teams figured out how to defend him, he wasn't effective unfortunately. Excellent athlete, though. The record setting game was a highlight in an era with very few of them. 1 Quote
