This issue has been discussed, rinsed and repeated for two weeks now. A lot of good well thought out theories I have heard on OTF Youtube videos. The national media also following closely. I am on Arch's side at this point and don't believe it is him. The main points that I think are valid: 1: Arch has been in the system 3 1/2 years, what gives? How much time does somebody need. He isn't making good reads and holding on to the ball too long 2: The OL cannot block worth a flip-how many years has this been an issue 3: No running game-how many years has this been an issue? 4: Sark/Flood don't know how to adjust to the constant blitzing. Same crap when QE was here. Every DC looks like an All World DC with the genius of sending 6 or 7 defenders. 4a: If it is due to Sark, I would think a frustrated Flood would have a strong conversation directly with Sark by now 4b: If it is due to Flood, why is Sark holding on to the incompetence 5: Sark's offenses haven't had a good track record at Texas in spite of having to nationally rated #1 QBs and Texas resources. I don't believe Texas has cracked the top 10 in Total offense since he has been here. Can Sark really develop QBs or is it a myth? What the hell credentials does Milwee have. Nothing against Milwee-it is on Sark hiring decision. 6. Texas never has enough of a lead to allow the backup QB to get meaningful game reps. 7. Y'all can help me with the rest

I don’t know man. I am just putting my thoughts out there. ou, Tenn and Fla are flat out sending 6 on 5 or 7 on 5 every play. You and I would have a difficult time taken on 3 dudes, correct? I am not ruling out Arch’s bad decisions against ou and then not prtectinv the ball in then end yesterday, I am just not ready to put the blame on him, “yet”

I truly believe it is Sark’s play calling. I’ll give you one better, his scheme may even be the issue with Flood and the OL’s issues. It appears to me that he needs too much perfection for his scheme to work. Even superior athleticism isn’t cutting it with his scheme. Arch is already dodging defenders by the time receivers even look back. When the whole world knows blitzing will neutralize Sark, DCs have there recipe. Look at Quinn with same issues against Georgia/OSU/Washington. I am hesitant to put this mess on Arch at this point.

Problem still remains that Sark has no answer for when defenses send 6 and 7 guys after Arch. Every DC has looked like a genius against Texas and then go back to reality when they play other teams. I am assuming Sark has removed all bootlegs, TE slants and draw plays from his playbook because these aggressive defenses have not been punished for their aggressiveness. 100% on Sark

Even though Texas lost, it is always a great day when “SAS”(sorry ass sooners) lose. I don’t care one way or the other about aggy. Actually, I hope aggy beats the living hell out of the gooners.

100%. What I get tired of hearing is we had to play the top 3 defensive minds. But, we all see the issue that every DC knows how to defend Sark’s offense. Blitz and overload the front. The defenders can get to the QB before any receiver even turns back to look for the ball.

Why are y'all questioning Banks? Sark already told you to look at how Niblett made ST great last year and that is all because of Banks ST schemes. Case is closed. Do any of you feel like a child that is being distracted before getting an injection-Don't look here at what you know is happening, look over there.

One way for Sark to save face would be to hire a quality top notch “analyst”-which would really be our OC. This would prevent Sark from sacrificing his ego by not capitulating to the mob. This analyst (would be a well known offensive mind) needs to sit in the press box, he needs to be a seasoned offensive mind, and that can feed sark information on what he sees, not just what Sark is asking for. Nothing against Milwee, but his résumé is just not distinguished. He has experience at Akron. Not a lot of complex defenses and elite athletes he faced. His main D1 experience is at bama/Texas- all under Sark. So Sark gets feedback from his very own “think alike” mentee. If you mentor somebody for 8 years, you are getting a mirror image of yourself. Sark needs an (let’s call him an analyst) analyst that complements or expand on his prostyle philosophy by getting a spread offense/tempo expert. Just an idea

There is so much content on this forum, so my apologies if this has been discussed in some way. I am not able to read every post and comment. DISCLAIMER: I know we are 4-1 and in control our own destiny and may be foolish to be so negative. 1) The Arch issue. Gerry wrote an extensive post about Arch that covered every angle. The only thing I will add is that I don't recommend benching Arch. I would only recommend let him use all of his tools (his running ability) like every other college program does and call plays that take advantage of Arch's speed and power-the dude is tough and good sizee. Now, if that is an issue with the Manning family and Arch himself, that is a different scenario that would justify putting somebody in that can run. It is now self-preservation and Texas needs to be able to have the QB running option. I mean, hell, he did it 2 years ago against aggy and it worked beautifully for a TD. 2) Sark the HC has two obstacles: The irony how Vegetables flipped the weight of the world to Sark and temporarily freed himself from it. Obstacle 1: Sark the OC. Had he made the move to hire an OC on his own, the spotlight and the pressure cooker wouldn't be anywhere near the level it is since Saturday. That pressure is here to stay and will only get heavier and heavier. It is never good when a HC is forced to make a change not of his own doing-quite frankly it seems to be the beginning of the end of the HC tenure in most cases. Additionally, what kind of OC could possible come to Texas knowing Sark was against the decision and knowing he may be butting heads and worried about a turf war at every turn? Sark would have to humble himself and think about his future. Really, if he fails here, he will be damaged goods as an OC and as a HC-college or NFL. Yes he has an great win loss record the last 4 years, but that is with the wealth of resources from Texas. The main reason for the record is elite defenses-not his high scoring innovative offensive schemes. At other schools or the NFL he will not have the talent advantage he currently enjoys. Obstacle 2: Sark's buddies. People may ask did Banks/Flood forget how to coach? The were great at bama. Well, they had the GOAT as a HC that held his assistants accountable. Sark thought he was getting the guys under Saban, but apparently Saban gets more out of them. The CEO matters because he deals with the big and little things. How do other schools make their OL work? They haven't had the recruiting advantage Flood has at Texas. Is it incredibly bad luck that the top recruits that signed at Texas are busts? CJ nailed the special teams issues, so I won't regurgitate. But, I will remind you of the horrible outing at UT2, was more of the same against blowU. It is laughable at how we got more of the same. The very first kick-off goes out of bounds. This obstacle is not as complicated as firing the OC, but the fact that you are being forced to do it is not a good look. It is difficult to respect a HC that doesn't deal with the obvious problem himself. I mean does he think he has multiple years to fix these issues? For all I know (which isn't a lot), Flood is not the problem as much as what he is asked to do in Sark's complicated scheme. This would make some sense, because now you have Arch and Flood scratching their heads after each practice at what there scheme/identity is supposed to be. 3) I really like Sark, but we all saw it coming in one way or the other-it was simply unsustainable to have such a under performing offense. It should be embarrassing how much BMDs payout for these athletes and get such an underperformance. To make matters worse and something we have to reconcile is the crap about not apologizing for a win. Well, the reason the media and fans were making a bid deal about is because it is a big deal. We saw the unsustainability with our own eyes and knew it would bite us at some point. But, he blew us off and gave us his non-apology. I don't see what can be improved when Sark himself doesn't really have a plan. I really believe that he doesn't know how to fix STs and the offense. CJ make a great point about "doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity" in Sunday morining's video and it applies perfectly in the current state of affairs at Texas. 4) Still no answer for the constant blitzing Arch gets. Will it be a free for all SEC head coaches to look like geniuses by simply blitzing the hell out of Texas because we still look lost and get shut down. Sark has given us no hope of dealing successfully with out opponent's blue print.

Matchups: Vegetables will beat Sark and Muschamp will beat Arbuckle. The question is whether Sark will put the Texas D in compromised positions by forcing his play calling and/or not punting on 4th when not necessary. Prediction: Mateer will attempt to run, run and run. At least until he gets popped hard, then he may back off. I saw him at the end of last years game just watching Texas celebrate. My translation is the he is carrying the dissappointment and revenge from last year and will go down fighting. I don't think he'll succeed, but just an observation from the nosebleed seats.

I am not sure he would every be interested in HC. Nonetheless, I love Boom, but I'll pass for him to be HC

100% CJ. I watched the video with you,Rod and Marcus. I believe you were 100% on point to make ou earn everything and make their offense march the length of the field and not give them any freebeess like going for it on 4th down between the 40s. Sark will have to resist the wreckless inlcination to go for it on 4th.

if by "weather the storm" translates for Sark to be patient, I agree 100%. Nothing wrong with punting and playing the field position game. Don't put the offense in a position for turnovers, especially early on. Texas has all of the advantages if they just don't beat themselves with penalties and turnovers

If you didn't catch the youtube discussions, they were really good-I recommend checking them out. Two of them in particular from yesterday i thought hit the nail on the head. Special Teams: Conventional wisdom says that ST should either be neutral or win you a game here and there, but it should never lose you a game. I just can't wrap my head around how problematic our ST are. So many errors and costly mistakes. I still haven't heard of an explanation for Sark himself or anybody about how or if this issue will be addressed. I don't like the automatic "fire the coach" rhetoric, but I don't know what options there are. Sark is the CEO and I am also concerned he isn't addressing it coupled with the fact that Sark and Banks, I am guessing are friends. As incompetent as Banks has the ST currently (as I have mentioned-Charlie Strong level of ST incompetence), it is ultimately what standards Sark allows. Sark's offenses inability to handle the blitz. Unfortunately, there is history here, so I am not buying the "blame Arch" crowd and to a lesser extent, not blaming OL either. Jeff and CJ did a nice job on this subject. But, Sark's play calling: slow developing plays in the midst of the storm, Arch getting pressured and the receivers that are open-still not looking for the ball. Sark needs to give his offense a chance. Teams will continue to blitz and Texas will continue to fail on offense if this continues. Even SW TX ST and UTSA had success in overmatching the OL and getting pressure. Pretty frustrating considering we are supposed to have the top offensive mind in the nation-even though for the last 5 years we haven't had a top 10 scoring offense or total offense in YPG. The first one was Coffee and Football yesterday: Coach Shipley was a guest and he was asked about what he felt were one or two of his biggest concerns (paraphrasing). He had addressed it and Bobby and Gerry also weighed in. Really good discussion and I don't think I can summarize everything and put it in proper context-worth the time to watch it. The second video was with CJ and Jeff. It addressed specifically the blitzing. It was a fairly short video, but it addressed the glaring issues.
