For the second time in three seasons, Texas will face Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll.

The Longhorns, who were No. 1 in both polls entering their 2024 matchup with the Sooners, held onto the top spot after their only scheduled regular-season bye week. Texas (4-0, 1-0 SEC) is ahead of No. 2 Georgia in both polls, tying the Bulldogs for the ninth-most No. 1 appearances in AP Poll history with 54.

How much has Sarks emphasis recruiting the DFW metroplex cost blowU?  Prior DFW kids were picked and chosen by OK thus a lot of those super high rated players built teams for that school on the wrong side of the Red River.  Is it because of the emphasis on recruiting or more along the lines of NIL?
