Saw this on the live stream from the other day & think it’s a fun exercise.
Who is the best player you played against in high school?

Focus is football but would love to hear some basketball & baseball shout outs too!

Lance Blanks RIP

Not sure how many of you will remember these guys - I'm an old - but in baseball it was Keith Creel of Duncanville and Brian Milner (Hoby's dad) of Ft. Worth Southwest.  In basketball, I chased Ricky Pierce of Garland around for 4 quarters and held him to under 30 points, so I've got that going for me.

Kwame Cavil lit me up when he was a safety in high school.  Played against LT (have a paper that shows my kick return average was better than his…lol) and Brees.  Killeen Elison was crazy, Michael Jameson and Jay Brooks went to Tamu and David Winbush was crazy in high school and he went to Kansas.

Dakorian pearson at Dayton,  he played qb and  would take the snap around the edge and out run everyone,

the other was Shaunderrick Charles, Jamals second oldest brother who played at SMU,  man he is quick and shifty.  we beat the hell out of Port Arthur Lincoln but he had 2 long crazy runs against us.

I remember i had a match up set to play on the defensive line against matt nader at westlake before he had his unfortunate cardiac arrest on the sideline. Crazy that matt went onto work in the medical field and in particular a heart hospital where he still has his defibrillator and lives the jobs he works.

Kelenna Azubuike was the best I played against. In basketball his senior year he averaged around 40 a game. He went to Kentucky and was all-SEC there and then played in the nba for a while.

Played him in the Championship of an AAU tournament. He had a put back dunk on me in the lane that was the worst facial I ever received. I still have nightmares of that dunk.

Bit older than most of you. For me it was a running back John Harvey who DKR said was the best athlete he ever saw. And DKR coached a few good ones as I recall.

Yea before my time for sure but that’s an impressive co-sign to say the least

Fun topic.  My HS football highlights include getting run over by Barry Foster (Duncanville) on a kick return TD.  But I redeemed myself weeks later by getting behind Merton Hanks (Lake Highlands) for a long TD catch.  Both went on to be NFL All-Pros.

In HS basketball, I was just happy to be a Guard when we played against Larry Johnson (aka Grandma Ma) for Skyline, so I didn’t have to go anywhere him on the court.  LJ dunked like nobody I’ve ever seen, even in the lay-up lines during warm-ups.

I've got two.  One was James Morton, father of the current Tech starting QB.  The other was Billy Joe Tolliver.  Went on to start at Tech at QB.  Both of their teams beat us out in the playoffs on consecutive years and went on to win state championships.

Rodney Thomas may be the best runner I've seen play.

Morton is the head coach of Eastland HS, fyi. Been there a long time.

I played against Dez Bryant in a 7on7 tournament and the dude was just on another level.

But as far as in a real game, either DeSean Hales from Klein Oak or QB Jarrett Lee out of Brenham.

Dez in 7on7 seems a tad unfair lol.
