Having been a part of some championship teams, I can tell you that we want to be playing our best when the playoffs roll around. If we can get a little better each week that's what we need. How do eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

As a 16 year old, my coach took me to a Texas game for the first time. I had become a fan when Earl played, but this my first in person visit. It was 1983 and Texas had the most dominating defense I had ever seen. Mossy Cade was an absolute stud on a defense full of them. He gets my vote. That dude was unreal.

Something that hardly gets mentioned is recruiting. We got a major upgrade in that department. When the leader of your defense doesn't go out and recruit, it's a bad look. I know if I was on that staff, it would certainly raise a few questions with me. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. It's not a matter of want to. It's a matter of HAVE TO.

These old ball coaches need to stick to the X's and O's of football. They have no clue how to navigate the current landscape of roster management. It has drastically changed and will never be the same again.

What helped me tremendously was watching the Meat Church videos on YouTube. They are short, to the point and almost fool proof if you follow them. Their seasonings are outstanding as well.

If you put it into perspective, the 22.5 sacks in 1982 when teams weren't throwing it nearly as much as today is crazy. Way less opportunities should equal less sacks. Hager's total tackles in 1988 is impressive no doubt, but teams were running the ball a lot. That's what makes DeAyala's sack total really impressive.

Not even in the same ballpark as those terrible Burger King commercials imo. That you rule campaign can't get away fast enough for me. I've sworn off that place until it does.
