Bill Norton vs OU and Washington

OU rushed the ball for 200+ yards vs Zona if memory serves me correct.

Yep, half of that was in the 2nd quarter mostly from Sawchuk. Arizona had issues setting and containing the edge that allowed Sawchuk to bounce outside to break off bigger runs, and Jackson Arnold also had some of the bigger chunk runs along with him.

Here's how our 2 transfers fared against the run, not including Arnold's runs for this.

When Savea was on the field, OU ran for 62 yards which was from that 1 big play. (ball didn't go in his direction, so not much he could do there)

When Norton was in, they ran for 33 yards

When Norton and Savea were on the field together, OU ran for 28 yards

When neither were on the field, OU ran for 40 yards

Thanks for the highlights.

Norton was listed at 6-6 300 so he is a tall guy with sufficient size. His fundamentals and techniques can still be improved upon. Hope he has continued to physically develop his lower body this off-season.  Norton should be playing lower and more explosive with more lower body development. While Norton didn't get any sacks, Norton used his length to affect the passing lanes and tipped 3 passes last season. I like to see that Norton caused 2 FFs. Last season was his most disruptive season. Glad we have his length and another experienced IDL player (Jr yr - 32 TKLS, 2.5 TFL, 0 SACKS, 3 PD, and 2 FF, Career 45 TKLS, 6 TFL, 0 SACKS, 3 PD, and 2 FF). Hoping he develops this season under Baker.

6-4 293 Tiaoalii Savea is another helpful IDL addition (Career 36 TKLS, 7.5 TFL, 1.5 SACKS, 1 PD, and 0 FF).

The IDL transfer I find most intriguing and potentially important is 6-2 305 Jermayne Lole. He was impressive before his serious injuries (Soph yr - 72 TKLS, 10 TFL and 6.5 SACKS; Career 142 TKLS, 25 TFL, 12.5 SACKS, 10 PD, and 3 FF ). Lole is active, quick for a big and disruptive.
